Feel The Bern? Get a Free STD Check

No, This Is Definitely Not a Bernie Sanders Ad
It's an ad for free STD testing

Several billboards scattered around Los Angeles look at first glance like ads for Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign, but they actually ask, "Feel the Burn?" The ad campaign is the work of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which is urging anyone who might feel painful symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases to get free screenings.

They point to FreeSTDCheck.org, the AP reports. The billboards use the same style as Sanders' campaign, which has adopted the slogan "Feel the Bern"—itself a play on the fitness workout catchphrase. Both the senator and the foundation use white letters underlined by red and white swooshes against a blue background.

AIDS Healthcare spokesman Jason Farmer says in a press release that Sanders is getting through to young people and the organization hopes its message does, too.

But yes, i think there is an element of the clap demographic versus the clapper demographic at play.

Not enough people do that. When I was at a local event I stopped the free STD testing mobile lab and the woman running it was really happy to see me because I was the first person to stop in there and it seems that few stop in despite it being free.

Brand-glomming is a good sign. Not necessarily good in itself, but as a sign - excellent. Who would want to steal the Arrow-H and think they're going to build their message? Canned goods at best.

I rec'd the thread. I think the Feeling the Burn sign is great. Bernie is already helping people and he's not even in the White House yet. Fabulous!

is very telling about how low Clinton is willing to go in attempting to disparage Sanders.

I think Sen Sanders will get a kick out of this. If it helps people that's great. We are all about helping people and you guys are all about winning and getting more money for the wealthy.

When people started saying "Feel the Bern", I thought "hmm, that's reminiscent of the old jokes about STDs - do they really want that as a campaign slogan?"

Maybe it was a more common joke in the UK than in the USA ...
