How Hillary Clinton Bought the Loyalty of 33 State Democratic Parties
by Margot Kidder
Its worse than wicked, my dear, its vulgar
Punch Almanac, 1876
Collusion between the Clinton Campaign and the DNC allowed Hillary Clinton to buy the loyalty of 33 state Democratic parties last summer. Montana was one of those states. It sold itself for $64,100.
The Super Delegates now defying democracy with their insistent refusal to change their votes to Sanders in spite of a handful of overwhelming Clinton primary losses in their own states, were arguably part of that deal.
In August 2015, at the Democratic Party convention in Minneapolis, 33 democratic state parties made deals with the Hillary Clinton campaign and a joint fundraising entity called The Hillary Victory Fund. The deal allowed many of her core billionaire and inner circle individual donors to run the maximum amounts of money allowed through those state parties to the Hillary Victory Fund in New York and the DNC in Washington.

(47,209 posts)what they are doing. The money is sent to state parties then recycled back to the HRC campaign. All of it. The HRC campaign is doing this to avoid campaign contribution limits.

Innuendo instead of facts- because it's all about integrity, right?

Where are her sources?
And DNC money goes to whatever races they think need it. I'm not sold that this is awful. Or illegal.

(39,215 posts)beginning to wonder if I should even bother. If even the state party is rigged we should be holding alternative conventions.
What I am going to do is take the url for this article along with me and let a few people I trust know about it. I am assuming that like Montana MN could be one of the 33 states since the meeting that did this was held here.
And yes we need to let people know about this. At least we will understand why we are being screwed.

Fourteen Defining
Characteristics Of Fascism
By Dr. Lawrence Britt

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.
6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.
9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

(88 posts)charged. Just how warped and twisted is your morality when you think this is a good path to victory?
"Not only did Hillarys multi-millionaire and billionaire supporters get to bypass individual campaign donation limits to state parties by using several state parties apparatus, but the Clinton campaign got the added bonus of buying that states super-delegates with the promise of contributions to that Democratic organizations re-election fund."
Thanks to Margot Kidder for this.

(10,622 posts)I remember realizing we lost our Democracy to corrupt politicians like Clinton, felt like a grown up version of what I felt at 5 years old when I learned Santa Claus was a myth.
And much like that, telling people the truth about out corrupt second world Oligarchy can feel saddening, like one who tells the kid Santa is not real.
One of the reasons I don't enjoy telling people the truth about our Democracy, is that even when they believe the truth of it, one feels like a Grinch for taking away a beautiful illusion they pin their hopes and dreams on.
The reality sucks, but must be faced if we are to get out democracy back.

(6,719 posts)Not sure where to go now. What are you doing? I have this urge to an activist. I am an active volunteer with Amnesty International and maybe that will be enough for me. Hard to face doing nothing. Thanks for your response.

(10,622 posts)At the moment I am working at a Quixotic attempt to get our Democracy back via political revolution. After that, I'll likely think of something else, amnesty international is a good outlet.
Luckily, or unluckily depending on how you look at it, my health is very bad and it will be up to others at an as yet undetermined time frame, but far less than a decade but likely at least five years.
Add to that that I now depend more and more on supplemental oxygen, and I literally have no income at all (only food stamps). There is not much of an impact I can make like I did back in the day as a very active activist.
Sorry I have lots of good questions, but so very few actionable answers.
It is the younger generations I weep for, they will bear the brunt of so many evils I will not be around to see, and ya know that sucks, many of them are such fine good hearted young people that it breaks my heart.

Am thinking about 350.org. Have friends there. Recent cardiac event has me trying to be more intentional with my remaining time. Smile. Thanks again. Best wishes.

(68,868 posts)so that Sanders and people who want to starve the national party and state parties to death do not get their chance to destroy the Democratic party.
This puritanical pearl-clutching about Clinton raising money for Democrats is really staggering.

(11,417 posts)I know the truth is not contained in the OP. It is more out of context wording and there is no way for Hilary's campaign to defend itself here.
I am not versed enough in the fund raising though I do know somethings. There is nothing nefarious here. All the money is going to elect Democrats to office so we can finally break the deadlock in Washington.
It is just a damn crying shame that a losing campaign has to stoop to this to try and win some state primaries.
I have words to type here but I would end up on review so I can't but suffice to say the OP is not honorable nor are any recs.
