2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThere is a reason why many are still angry at Hillary Clinton. We are not "Bernie Bros"
We aren't "Bros before Hos" as we were accused of in 08.
Some of us cannot let go of the fact that when we needed her to take the path of Paul Wellstone she took the path of George Bush.
She isn't the only one who did this, they all did (Besides Wellstone and Sanders).
Instead of saying this:
She said this:
Hundreds of thousands of us in the streets trying to stop this preemptive war from happening and we were silenced.
The Media (Including MSNBC) sold it and our politicians handed Bush the keys that drove the Middle East into a ditch.
THIS is why we are dealing with the Hornets nest of ISIL/ISIS.
I think back now to 2004 when Bush was reelected and how pissed I was that he could Lie us into a war and the Nation would reward him for it via a second term. It was America telling the world that we were okay with it.
We rewarded Bush with a second term! Chew on that thought a little and tell me you aren't pissed.
And now we may in fact Reward Hillary Rodham Clinton with the highest office in the land regardless of the fact that in the most crucial of votes and this
from so many of us that she took the easy and popular vote instead of the hard right one.
And if she is the nominee in the end I will walk up to the voting machine and vote for her.
I will do it with great sadness as if part of my soul has died.
I will do it for the Supreme Court.
So no, I am not "Bernie or Bust" or whatever slogan drummed up to stereotype Sanders supporters.
I am just a man who still feels the hurt. So much that it Berns.

(250 posts)Is still evil. I don't mean to say Hillary is evil, not by any means. I feel like the only way to stop this corrupt process is to not continue to vote for the lesser of 2 evils. I know the consequences to a decision like that may be so destructive to our society and may take years to overcome, but if we keep rewarding these corporate puppets with our votes it will never change.
In my heart, I can not bring myself to vote for Hillary for many reasons, especially for what you have noted above. To think that she voted and endorsed a decision that got so many men, women, and children killed or permantly disabled is heart breaking. At times throughout history, she has made the wrong decision. That trend will only continue.
I am sorry to all, but she will never get my vote.

(5,240 posts)And right.
All I know is that I'll be 50 in June and I might have 20-30 years left(Hopefully more) so I just can't not vote for the lesser "Still evil" and help the even more "Evil" Republican) win the White House and install a Tea Bagger on the Supreme court.
I'll find a bridge to jump off of I'll tell ya.
To me the Supreme court protects the seventh seal of the Apocalypse(That may be stretching it).

(39,377 posts)IWR cost her the nomination in 2008. Barack Obama probably wouldn't have run if she had voted against it. Or at least he shouldn't have; she would have been unbeatable.
She paid what was for her a huge price, and rightfully so. There were many Democratic voters who were dug in on IWR as a litmus test in '08 and I think it sent a strong message. Note that any Dem in the Senate who might want to run for President sometime, including moderates like Cory Booker, got behind the nuclear deal with Iran. No accident, imo.
Also, I don't quite get the bit about Wellstone and Sanders being the only ones who didn't go the way of Bush on Iraq. 21 D Senators voted against it as did 126 Reps.

(12,022 posts)If she'd said "I made a mistake on Iraq," I'd be far happier to vote for her. But she never acknowledged it, and she talked Obama into overturning Khaddafi. More chaos, more death. No lessons learned.

(3,937 posts)and that might work well in a GE, especially against Trump. But against Sanders it has been tough.
Sanders' message is so consistent that the Hillary campaign regularly tries to find something usable among supporters of Sanders. When they can't find any of those that suit their need to be "attacked" then they claim Greenpeace is Sanders.
The invention of "BernieBros" seems designed to frame Clinton as being unfairly attacked on reasons that distract from discussion of policy and issues. They created a fake enemy that frames the campaign along the demographic boundaries they cling to -- gender, age, race -- not on issues.
"BernieBros" and similar narratives are designed to fire up those who already support Clinton and keep them engaged. It is as if they are saying 'Can't get excited about $12 min wage? Okay, how about alleged sexism, racism or tone ?"
The Washington Post investigation reached these conclusions:
...
in the final stage of analysis, we coded whether each slur originated from a Bernie Sanders supporter (as determined by their Twitter bios or corpus of tweets) and, among verifiable Sanders supporters, whether the sender was male, female, or unknown.
...
And though any and all instances of sexist slurs deserve condemnation, Sanders keyboard warriors accounted for just 89 (out of 52,181) such tweets during the New Hampshire primary. That is a mere 00.17 % of all the tweets mentioning @HillaryClinton that we examined.

2007: "I prefer to think of it as being very positive about civil unions
It's a personal position ... we have made it clear in our country that we believe in equality. How we get to full equality is the debate we're having, and I am absolutely in favor of civil unions with full equality ... of benefits, rights, and privileges."

She spent decades offering detailed and personal objections to the equality of millions of American women and men. That's a basic point of history that she's going to have to deal with if she wants to advance. After her claims that Reagan was a hero in the AIDS crisis she's on thin ice and about to take down all of her endorsers with her.

In what universe are these decisions equivalent??

Also, Bernie voted for HJ Res 64, Afghan War, Kosovo, and Somalia. Im sure those were all casualty free though.

(28,493 posts)To the Clinton supporters who say it's time for a woman president, I say it's time for peace, it's time for a focus on domestic policies, it's time to stop US global intervention and war-mongering. And whenever I say that, I find most Clinton supporters don't respond because as Democrats, most of them in their heart-of-hearts know it IS time for peace. They may not want Sanders, but they can't argue against my position without sounding like Republicans.

October 10, 2002
While there is no perfect approach to this thorny dilemma, and while people of good faith and high intelligence can reach diametrically opposed conclusions, I believe the best course is to go to the UN for a strong resolution that scraps the 1998 restrictions on inspections and calls for complete, unlimited inspections with cooperation expected and demanded from Iraq.
Even though the resolution before the Senate is not as strong as I would like in requiring the diplomatic route first and placing highest priority on a simple, clear requirement for unlimited inspections, I will take the President at his word that he will try hard to pass a UN resolution and will seek to avoid war, if at all possible.
If we get the resolution and Saddam does not comply, then we can attack him with far more support and legitimacy than we would have otherwise.

(14,923 posts)Hillary Clinton is a confirmed, repeat-offender liar. The majority of voters are not wrong when they say she is untrustworthy & dishonest. Does anyone believe she will change her ways once elected? The level of Clinton coverups, lies and daily misinformation we should expect from her will make Milhous Nixon look like an honest politician.

(10,650 posts)Lying is an automatic reflex for her. To hide, evade, and stonewall are her go to actions. Her stated positions change as often as the weather.
Now to some degree, one can stomach the lies and take the good with the bad. But her cynicism, cold indifference, and arrogance are just too much to bear.
Hopefully the party comes to its senses before the convention and rejects her candidacy.
