Hillary Clinton didnt break the law

It may not sound like it at first, but the FBIs decision to move fast on its investigation of Hillary Clintons email practices is good news for the Democratic front-runner.
As my colleague Del Quentin Wilber reported last month, federal prosecutors have begun setting up formal interviews with Clintons advisers. After those sessions, theyre expected to seek an interview with the candidate herself. Clinton has long said she will cooperate.
Signs are that FBI Director James Comey, who has personally overseen the inquiry, wants to get the probe done before the Democratic Convention in July. Comey understandably wants to avoid any appearance of sitting on information that could influence a presidential election.
But its also in Clintons interest to get the case over with as soon as possible, because, in the end, shes unlikely to face prosecution. The cloud of suspicion is worse than the likely outcome.
Lets not mince words: Clinton screwed up. Instead of using the State Departments email system, she decided to send business messages through a private, unsecured system set up by a former campaign aide. That was contrary to State Department policies, some of them promulgated by Clinton herself....

(11,641 posts)where the author while stating he doesn't believe she broke the law compares it a case where someone plead guilty to a misdemeanor offense which lead to a presidential pardon.
From the article:
Heres a better analogy: Beginning in 1998, former CIA Director John M. Deutch was investigated for storing highly classified documents on a personal computer connected to the internet. The Justice Department initially declined to prosecute. After a public outcry the case was reopened, and Deutch negotiated a misdemeanor plea, but he was pardoned by then-President Bill Clinton.

(3,017 posts)Even as Rich's ex wife was making an enormous contribution to the Clinton Foundation and buying the Clintons furniture for their new home, I am not very hopeful that he is going to charge Hillary with anything.

(1,377 posts)It might be now a bigger piece in a case involving Clinton Foundation and Money Laundering. Before the FBI case was announced Inspector General published a report that 6 Billion dollars was unaccounted for from the State Dept for the time period of 2008-2014(saying most of it was from the 2008-2012 period). The State dept was looking into it last that was mentioned. Then FBI case comes about and a separate FBI case where the Clinton Foundation get subpoenaed. So it is my theory that This whole thing is being setup so Obama can throw Clinton under the bus so to lessen the impact on his legacy. Because all he will have to do is have someone "leak" that Clinton was only given the SoS spot because she was threatening to tear apart the DNC party at convention. Obama will claim he did it for the good of the party.
So the GOP unwittingly helped Obama dodge this scandal by providing cover for the email when they where doing the Benghazi witch hunt.
