2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumNew Account from Oregon: "My party affiliation was changed in the last 3 days."
This was originally written on April 1st and posted on another site. I just got permission from the author to share it on Democratic Underground as well:
"I live in Oregon. Here we vote by mail, and we can check and update our voter registration online (not sure if you can register online, but once you are registered you can access & change your file [link at bottom]). We also have to be registered as affiliated with the Democratic party to vote in the Democratic Primary.
On 3/28/2016 I checked my registration because I was concerned after hearing reports of party affiliations of Bernie voters being changed. My registration listed me as affiliated with the Democratic Party as it should. I took a screen shot, half in jest, but just to be sure.
Today, 3/31/2016, my Voter Notification Card arrived in the mail. It has me listed as unaffiliated.
Now, there is still time, and I have updated my registration to list me as affiliated with the Democratic Party. But, it seems clear that something odd is happening..."
OK that is the clearly objective information part of what was posted, along with a warning that everyone needs to check their registration status prior to any upcoming primary or caucus as soon as possible.
The full post also contains speculation on what might be going on behind the scenes:

(51,076 posts)one of our candidates will do what ever it takes to walk into that oval office on January 20, 2017. By Hook or By Crook, matters not to them.
Bernie is the only candidate on either side who is honest with us, honest to a fault I might add but honest nevertheless. I like honesty. Very. Much. So.

(34,845 posts)Do you understand how bereft of logic your statement is? You're saying that Clinton could read minds and determine who was inclined to vote for Sanders and then, what the hell, telekenesis, too, she caused this voter's registration to be changed.
My God, she's powerful.

(51,076 posts)how stupid what you said is
I didn't say anything about hillary being able to read minds I implied that by hook or by crook is her MO. She is only one of her campaign and her campaign is not to be trusted. As well as her herself. She's been caught in so many half truths and out right lies that I'm amazed she has gotten this far. To be honest with you.
As I said by hook or by crook

(10,559 posts)who depend on Clinton Foundation/Clinton Fundraising checks who do the actual dirty work.
The "establishment" Dems are rightly afraid of losing the guaranteed meal ticket that are the Clintons. If Bill and Hillary aren't running for the White House again, they might be spending all of their "donations" on stuff to benefit the planet (see Jimmy Carter) instead of on spreading the wealth in the Democratic Party.
To minimize this conflict of interest (aka "buying support" as Clinton's Magic Psychic Powers is as ludicrous as the Clinton Pyschic Claim that no emails ever sent to her by her boss, peers or other world leaders would contain classified information - in other words, ridiculous.

(34,845 posts)What's more likely? An intricate conspiracy that would leave fingerprints or a computer glitch? Absent even a modicum of evidence, I know what I'd put my money on. That is not to say there aren't 'bad apples' in every campaign but, again, an anonymous posting on an anti-Clinton web site is hardly supportive of that.

(9,905 posts)That isn't democracy. Respect for voters' right to vote for the candidate of their choice is not optional.

(14,195 posts)From her good friend our Guv, Terry McAuliffe on down to my local county dems - who put out an official memo telling all of us to collect signatures to put Hillary on the ballot back in Nov at our election tables. I complained that we should collect sigs for all candidates or none.
County dems ignored me until I contqcted the local news station and was interviewed on the tv news. They refused to be interviewed BUT they sent out a new memo saying we COULD collect ballot sigs for ALL candidates.

(45,319 posts)Governor Brown has forcefully endorsed Hillary Clinton and Brown was Sec of State until she got bumped up to Governor. I've known Brown for years and always like her, but her comportment during this primary has very much weakened my support for her and I'd rather see someone else take over as Governor after the next election.

As voter registration per se is a state issue, would a hypothetical multi-state effort to defraud run afoul of RICO law or election law?
