2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAlthough it is traditionally done by presidential candidates,
there is actually no legal requirement for them to release their tax filings. Most do, of course, and people sometimes question why a particular candidate doesn't, if that is the case. However, it's not a requirement that candidates do so.
We may be making more of this than is necessary. I doubt that there will be anything odd about Bernie Sander's federal tax filings. I suspect they're quite simple, really, and wouldn't reveal anything that would hurt his chances.

(8,168 posts)I just don't care, I can judge them just fine without playing these silly 'gotcha' games.

If she does, I probably won't bother reading those transcripts. I figure they'll say just what I expect they'll say, so I won't spend any time on them.
Frankly, I don't think she will release them anyhow.

(8,168 posts)She'd be an idiot to entertain such a thing. There's only one reason that people are harping on the transcripts, and it has nothing to do with being transparent and everything to do with creating a never-ending diversion which would be highly unproductive and only serve to help the Republicans.

(146,325 posts)decide such a thing. I ran for County Supervisor once in California. I lost that election, but decided not to do that again. Political candidates have to have a lot of inner strength to deal with all of the crap associated with a campaign. I learned that right away after filing for that election.
It was interesting, but I decided that it was not something I wanted to repeat.
