So, is Hillary now for a national $15-an-hour minimum wage, or not?

All I know is that she applauded New York's move to $15-an-hour, despite her prior opposition to the idea. But because of Hillary's ever-so-careful language, it wasn't clear to me at all whether she now wanted workers in other states to get this wage or not. Because we should never put words in people's mouths, we need to ask her.

Maybe $8/hr. on the average.

Determined by "objective and verifiable criteria" such as educational attainment. they may have to go down in the US but they will go up in other places. The theory basically is that that is more efficient.

That's a shame.

It needs to be at least $15 everywhere and higher in the big cities, maybe tied to costs of living, average rents.

What does that have to do with minimum wage, except that taxes should be increased to provide a better safety net. I realay don't care how much some of these folks make as long as it's taxed properly.

Heck, some guy will make several million for hitting a white ball around this weekend.

pays doctors in rural areas less than higher cost areas. A person making $12/hr in Podunk will be doing better than someone making $15 in NYC. Whatever that is the NY law. California will gradually increase minimum age to $15 in 2022. That is, not even $12 in today's money and the Governor can stop the gradual increase if there is an economic downturn.

Thing is, I'm not against a big increase in minimum wage -- it's how we get there across America that matters. Having these two laws passed in relatively high cost states, is not enough.

in this country. You are also having a hard time understanding that it's not right to discriminate against low paid workers not living in big population areas. At least we can agree on paying women the same as a male, it's a damn shame we can't agree totally!

really poverty, especially if we have health insurance, education, etc. Not saying it's a life of luxury, but a lot of people would love to make that much in many areas of this country. In any event, Clinton's plan will have a better chance of enactment around the country than Sanders'. That's the important point.

live in a rural area. We old country hicks have to gas up the old rusted out pickup just to drive into the big city to find groceries, etc etc at a cheaper price. Your discrimination against hard working rural low paid workers is cracking me up.

Oh and city folks also have more high paying jobs available to them than us hillbillies do in Podunk, but that's another subject.

Suspect she simply took advantage of an opportunity to appear with the governor and get a photo op and say how much she cares. The usual. She has never supported $15/hr. On record as saying maybe $12 in some instances. Interesting the way the rich have such certain opinions on wages for the poor!
