http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/New-York-Labor-Hosting-Virtual-Union-Hall-for-Bernie-Sanders-20160409-0019.htmlLocal and state union chapters across the United States have defected from national leadership to endorse presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Labor in New York is bracing for a Bernie Sanders campaign push on Monday, as local chapters are defecting from national leadership to support the candidate many rank-and-file workers believe best aligns with their values.
Sanders has won the endorsement of seven national unions and 80 state and local divisions, but the grassroots Labor for Bernie is not just growing rapidly but cutting across all union categories and gaining support with non-union workers, wrote former presidential candidate and activist Ralph Nader in the Huffington Post on Saturday.
New York State Nurses' Association sent an email to its 37,000 members, reported Black Star News, to mobilize its membership on a Monday organizing call. It endorsed Sanders in March.
" W)e have a longstanding, commitment to a Single Payer, Medicare for All healthcare system, read the email from the board of directors. Senator Bernie Sanders is right there with us. He is unwavering in his commitment to patients over profits.
Mondays Virtual Union Hall will gather workers across New York on a conference call to organize a statewide strategy to push for Sanders. An average of the latest three polls shows his rival Hillary Clinton formerly a senator for New York 13 points ahead.

"A union leader of postal workers charged the unions backing Hillary as being completely out of touch with their workers. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka then cut off their microphones."
