They really will mock. I know I'm weird, but one day I sat out for a few hours and made a call that they do not natively make. They picked it UP!

I had them making the call at me.

They are extraordinarily intelligent, as well, for facial recognition. Like all birds, they have phenomenal abilities of sight. They could pick out a person wearing different clothes that harassed their nests, but ignored the people that did not harass their nests wearing the same clothing.

Very intriguing birds.

and the area is a bird sanctuary.

Damn hoot owl scares the heck out of me when I take out the trash. You can't even see them - Great Horned Owl - until they hoo hoo hoo right by you and scare the crap out of you.

It's only during the winter, but they are funny as hell once you get used to them.
