2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOur government and political system have been sold to the highest bidders. Call it what you will.
I call it systemic corruption.
The politicians who are engaging in that behavior are wrecking our country and hurting the vast majority of men and women and children and poisoning the environment so that eventually no one will survive.
Corporate greed has gotten way out of hand. And we have allowed that to continue for far too long.
The tendency of too many politicians to participate in that system and cash in is wrong. They are engaging in illicit sale of influence.
That is wrong.
Call it what you will.

(275 posts)Bernie is giving democracy a chance to break away from this corruption. Mainstream Media doesn't like that it would hurt their bottom line, where Trump is a bonus, hence all the attention on T-rump.
Clinton is more of the same connection with billionaires and mega corporations and that's what she's been around for decades and how they raised their daughter. It's been good to them, so why are we complaining? That's why Clinton's and Trumps and Bushes are so sympatico. Bill Clinton
Is "brothers" with GWB.

(10,622 posts)more accurate IMO, I like to call it that. I will say that perhaps systemic corruption is a better thing to call it while addressing those that have little understanding of such terms as Oligarchy and it's meaning.
So I shall interchange the two selectively depending upon the knowledge of those whom I talk to about the subject.
Thank you for this post as it made me realize I can express the same concern without using a term that causes some eyes to glaze over due to a lack of knowledge regarding the term.
