Bernie invited himself to the Vatican to speak for 10 minutes and he won't even meet with the Pope?

To add insult to injury, his short speech will be followed by a coffee break.

He could be spending his precious time campaigning in the US, instead he's flying all the way to the Vatican so he can give a 10 minute speech and grab some coffee.

Is it any wonder why he's losing to Hillary? His campaign even admitted recently that they didn't compete in the South for pledged delegates and now they're pulling this stunt.

Even after it was thoroughly debunked as a load of bs there were people who STILL believed it and I don't think all of them only watched FOX News.

Wonder if she ever speaks of campaign finance reform during her meetings and fundraisers. Or how to improve the lives of all the people who's been incarcerated for non violent "offenses" the last 25 years...Or how to get everyone healthcare and a living pay...and tax hikes on the filthy rich.

It isn't just a 10 minute speech and a coffee break. And you had to know that because so many people have been railing against this visit for this very reason. Bernie is taking too much time away from New York. I say it's the perfect time to go to New York. Bernie is campaigning to be President of the United States, not President of New York.

Technically he will be speaking DURING the coffee break.

His ten minute speaking gig was carved out of a thirty minute coffee break.

Now, the coffee break is only twenty minutes.

I hope he brings cookies.

Those theologians like their coffee breaks.

...my initial response was strictly on the tactical merits of taking two days off the campaign trail just before a make or break Primary that he can't afford to lose; my follow-up comments reflect the foolishness of a transparently obvious way to work Sanders into this previously fully scheduled conference for no apparently useful reason other than a ten minute speech and the apparent hope that Papal photo-op would materialize.

I've been clear in the past that I have no issue with Sanders' policies; I question his ability to win a General Election. The judgement that apparently went into planning this trip doesn't make me feel any better.

I doubt it. Personally, I doubt it.

Please provide the link to proof, that is a statement from the Vatican, that Bernie invited himself.

Has Hillary claimed that Bernie invited himself?

I think she should apologize for the fact that some of her followers are making this claim. I seriously doubt that the Vatican works that way when it comes to its meetings. Papal audiences maybe, but not policy meetings.
