How stupid does Erin Burnett think we are?

She was interviewing Tad Devine. She says "we actually looked up how many people the 4 biggest banks in the United States employ" and then put up a graphic showing that the 4 largest banks employ over 700,000 people combined. She asked "Would breaking them up do more harm than good with all those people losing jobs?"

Right Erin, you who worked for CNBC for years don't understand that these banks laid off people as part of every one of the hundreds of mergers it took the 4 biggest banks to get to their size. So now if we break up the biggest banks it means the employees in the banking industry will all lose their jobs.

What idiocy.

It is very easy point to make. When these banks merged, huge layoffs occur. If you break them up, there will be more jobs not less.

I hope Sanders make this point.

Bernie whiffed on that question in his NY Daily News interview. He said that there wouldn't necessarily be jobs lost and there would be jobs gained in credit unions and local community banks. As you say, there would be jobs gained when you break up the major banks as each one of them would need their own management, IT, HR, etc. to operate on a standalone basis. Getting rid of people and branches was a big part of what drove all the banking mergers.

Tad Devine said that jobs wouldn't be lost, but didn't make the point that there would be jobs gains.

and a total lightweight. I still remember her almost squealing with glee when she got to report/host some BS event in 2012 where the Romneys were attending. It was so sickening that it prompted me to read about her, as before then I really hadn't paid her much attention. I wasn't impressed.

If you break them up, what about all the jobs lost? Yes because we all know corporate mergers are all the rage because they create new jobs.

And more employees. i wish Tad had responded. Now she's got a panel with one real Bernie supporter who she cut off mid-comment. In summary, he said Bernie's message should be one of morals, principles, ethics, honesty. I'm sick of Gloria Borger. Sure odd to see David Gregory on these panels.

11. She capped off the interview with Devine with another gem

She talked about him heading to Rome after the debate and said "Some people says that's a mistake. If you're narrowing this, if you're fighting, why are you leaving the country? What do you say to them?"

To Devine's credit, after explaining what Bernie would be doing in Italy, he said he didn't think Bernie would be losing any ground because Hillary would be "in California doing the fundraiser with Clooney."

and she didn't say a word about the Clooney fundraiser. But at least she did ask a couple of questions on Hillary's coziness with Wall Street even if he didn't answer them.

Based on Mook's answers, Hillary is going after Bernie on guns tonight. I hope he will point out her Annie Oakley persona from 2008 when she went after Obama from the right on guns. I would love it if he would say that's why there is a #whichHillary hashtag.

14. Erin and CNN's research staff must be exhausted after "we actually looked up" something

Finding that information in the annual reports of those 4 banks must have taken 20 minutes or so. They're probably not used to doing actual research when they have Hillary's team feeding spin to them and plenty of political pundits to talk about the horse race and the latest campaign gaffe to talk about.
