Sanders blows off Sandy Hook victims' families at debate.

Bernie Sanders was booed loudly during the Democratic presidential debate Thursday night when he refused to apologize to the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre for his stance on gun control.

In a tense moment, CNN moderator Wolf Blitzer challenged Sanders on his view that crime victims should not be able to sue gun makers for damages.

Blitzer said to Sanders, "The daughter of the Sandy Hook elementary school principal who was killed back in the 2012 mass shooting says you owe her and the other victims' families an apology. Do you?"

The Brooklyn debate audience booed Sanders as he initially avoided the question.

Pressed again by Blitzer, the Vermont senator said, "No, I don't think I owe them an apology. They are in court today, and actually they won a preliminary decision today. They have a right to sue, and I support them."

I just do think the ability or inability to sue gun manufacturers is where we should be spending our political capital. I think it would be much better to focus that energy getting them off the streets in the first place.

Do I owe them an apology because I think he's right?

I'm so anti-gun that on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd score 100. I don't think that the manufacture of guns should be legal--for God's sake, except for guns used for hunting (which I personally also think is gross), they're designed to kill people. It's insanity. But since they are legal, why should the manufacturers be held liable?

I hope they win their case. I think guns should have been made illegal, except for military defensive uses, immediately after the Revolutionary War. Guns are horrible. But I don't think Bernie owes anybody an apology for recognizing that manufacturing a legal product is legal.

This is a sad pathetic attack. Bernie Sanders has nothing to apologize for. He had nothing to do with the attack on Sandy Hook, he was not the parent, the gun seller, the shooter. It is just a ridiculous try at a political smear.

It is just beyond reason why Bernie should apologize for an the murderous act of another American. Only Hillary sycophants bring this up. I know Hillary and her minions think this gun issue is a big problem for Bernie, but they are way off. The majority of Americans do not think suing the gun manufacturer should be allowed.
