"Nobody honestly believes that Bernie Sanders is a sexual pervert or that he is a misogynist or that he intends to do women any harm. Nobody suspects that he harbors a secret desire to pass intrusive legislation or to cut gang rapists a break. Really, there is only one reason that anyone would make hay of this story, and that is to damage the man politically."

All of the open mouthed screaming in this thread over your post made me go and read the essay

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Taking a quote out of context to make it look like people are apologizing for rape is over the top.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Apr 15, 2016, 10:33 PM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Your alert is a serious stretch and makes me think this is nothing more than alert stalking. Hope the admins look at it.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: It is obvious who sent this (however I won't say the person's name) and it is a stupid alert. Discuss whatever it is, but alerting for the purpose of trying to shut someone up is wrong. STOP IT!
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I'm not sure I entirely get it, but whatever.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
I was not #1, but I tend to agree.

In the future, calling woman 'sweetie' is sexist and demeaning, it's a way of dismissing us when you can't refute our argument.
And when a woman asks you to stop using offensive and demeaning behaviour you should probably just stop.
Sheepshank
(12,504 posts).....in implying I cannot use the word when speaking to a woman because it's sexist only when applied to a woman. And yet talk of Hillarys cackle etc is argued ad nauseum by you that's not sexist. You are the biggest hypocrit. And how do I even know you are a woman? You keep implying I'm a dude...are you sure? Your whole line of argument is stupid and nothing but drama filled poppycock.

(113,071 posts)heavily. In fact, I was one of those posting about it and we even had the author of the book posting here for a bit, as well.
Point being, the Dormouse was asking if anyone else sees HRC's Family connection in re to gay marriage stance - and my answer is YES - WE POSTED ABOUT IT ALOT back in 2007-8.

(1,168 posts)Some in the party may have moved on.
Many of us, however, see that the struggle for civil rights, including for LGBT people, remains a critical issue.
We only have two things to go by in trying to predict how a President Hillary would deal with LGBT civil rights issues: What she says she will do and What she has done in the past.
So what she has previously said and done in regard to gay marriage IS very much a matter of current interest.

(113,071 posts)you want.
You've proved that time and time again.
I get out in the streets and protest. I get into meetings and speak out. I surround myself with my compatriots, gay, straight, trans, all colors, all sizes, mostly liberals, some centrists, some in-between, and we get people registered and to the polls. WE. GET. PEOPLE. TO. THE. POLLS. Those who see themselves as too precious to do the legwork are usually the ones complaining on social media about how no one else is as pure as they are.
Enjoy your evening, merrily.

(6,007 posts)when Bernie is the real deal. Bernie had the first gay pride parade in Vermont and I think Vermont was the first for gay marriage.
And yet, they say Hill is their gal. Makes no sense.

(55,894 posts)and pretending he was going to go meet him would bother you more, considering how often and loudly you bring up Rick Warren and how often I've seen you denounce the Pope any time anything remotely positive is posted about the man.
I'd also think you'd be more upset at Mayor Bernie Sanders signing a homophobic marriage Resolution.
You've accused me of hypocrisy maybe 3-4 times now and I've seen you do the same to many other DU'ers.
Here's a recent Sanders ad for you:

Seen it all too often in my life to have any respect for people like you.
If you were LGBT, you would know WHY so many gays support Hillary.
But you aren't, so leave you shrill trolling to other subjects.

(12,530 posts)Do you want to be on the side that wins, or do you want to be in the right? I'll tell you that if I voted for Hillary, I would be very aware that I was compromising my integrity. Now you can come back on me and tell me how this story was misunderstood and that incident was incorrectly reported and that the other thing wasn't her fault. But you'll be doing gymnastics in order to accomplish that. You don't owe me answer at all, but I do hope my words are worthy of consideration.
