Almost to a poster these were the folks that excoriated LGBT folks for daring to voice discontent with PBO's choice for the invocation at his inauguration.

The same folks that said and I quote "You have enough rights"

Same posters, every single time.

It's not like ... You too can become president just like me.

You have been a prime cheerleader for trying to smear this. The obvious efforts to discredit and destroy this using failed talking points at every level of this story only served to raise the visibility and turn this into a more miraculous and beneficial story for Bernie.
The level of invective really highlights how powerful Bernie's campaign is and shows the deep fear spreading among Clinton supporters.
If Clinton's camp and you had spent your time ignoring it or almost any other tactic than the constant scream of negativity this would have been so much smaller of a story than it has become.

The ugliest type of petty.

Bernie was invited to participate at the conference because of his life-long work for economic justice, and the call to see economic issues from a moral frame. That, all by itself should have been applauded...but no, not here. How sad that the desire to promote their desired candidate would have them act so petty in an attempt to dismiss this honor.

Bernie received an invite from the Vatican to participate in a conference about morality in economic issues.

Bernie went, was received warmly by the people of Rome and the Vatican, and participated in the conference.

Bernie met privately with Pope Francis.

~~~
Pope Francis has always tried to veer away from politics and focus on the issues. If I were a fly on the wall of the Vatican I may know the mechanics of how Bernie's invite came to be, but I am not so I do not and I really don't care.
It was an honor that Bernie was invited to participate. Period.
ROME — U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders says he met privately with Pope Francis during his overnight trip here, his spokesman said.
The meeting took place at the papal residence early Saturday, according Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs.
A Vatican source said the meeting was not a chance encounter and had been planned.
The Sanders campaign had been vague about the senator's itinerary here following his address Friday to a Vatican conference. Francis left Rome later Saturday for Greece, where he is visiting migrants stuck on the island of Lesbos.
Just look at the posts. With Hillary people it is all about winning and the campaign.
But for Bernie people it is not. If it were all about campaigning, he would have done much better to have stayed and done his rallies. All the Bernie people talk about is the honor and the message. This is the message he has been devoted to through his lifetime and he got a bigger stage to bring his message about helping the poor to the world. It wasn't about the campaign or he would have stayed. It was about the message.
And Hillary supporters are so self centered, all about "me", that they don't comprehend someone doing something for OTHERS.
I've been here since not long after the joint opened in 2001, and I can tell you that the really deranged primary warriors are almost without exception the same people.
They're just bullies and stalkers anyway, and primary season on DU gives them a chance to indulge that with no repercussions. As Ralphie Wiggum says of recess, "That's where I'm a Viking!"
In fact, I can think of several who disappear from this place for years at a time and show up when there is a contested primary. They don't care to engage in any discussion of things like issues,midterm elections, important events, or whatever, but give them a chance to be shitty to people and they come running like hungry dogs in an Alpo commercial.
But hey, you can't very well catapult the propaganda if the propagandists keep getting kicked out, now can you?
And yet it is the Sanders supporters who are getting the accurate press coverage http://www.latimes.com/nation/politics/la-na-bernie-sanders-supporters-20160415-story.html
Shawn Bagley thought he knew what he was getting into when he was elected to become one of California’s so-called superdelegates to the Democratic National Convention, and energetic debate with other activists was part of it.
What Bagley had not anticipated was being jolted out of bed by a 2 a.m. phone call from an angry Bernie Sanders supporter. The caller accused Bagley, a retired produce broker from Salinas, of stealing democracy from the citizenry.
“Why is Bernie Sanders letting these people loose on us?” said Bagley, a Hillary Clinton backer who says he was branded corrupt, immoral and thickheaded over the course of some 200 social media posts and phone calls from Sanders fans. “He lost my vote at 2 a.m.”
Sanders supporters are known to be a spirited bunch. But as their frustration mounts over their candidate’s failure to significantly cut into Clinton’s lead, no small number of them are lashing out in ways that are not particularly helpful to his campaign.
Election 2016 | Live coverage on Trail Guide | Track the delegate race | Sign up for the newsletter
There is the activist in Chicago who unleashed a movement to “harass” superdelegates backing Clinton, with an online “hit list” complete with delegate phone numbers and some home addresses. There are the online trolls who have come to be known as "Bernie bros," who attack journalists, politicians and fellow voters they perceive to be pro-Clinton with misogynistic, often vulgar attacks. There are the campaign surrogates -- some of them high-profile -- who use language the campaign finds itself having to walk back.
