Related: About this forumHillary supporters reaction to Bernie's Vatican visit
As we've been seeing, the Hillary supporters have been throwing mud at this from day one. And for them the whole trip is about how it will affect this primary election. That is what their comments have been about for the most part.
Think about it though, for the Bernie supporters, we haven't been talking about how, or even if, this affects the election. . . we are bigger minded than that.
What is inspirational about this is the ISSUE, the CAUSE, the idea that helping the poor, helping those in need, that idea is getting a world wide stage and some media attention. THAT is what is important for Bernie supporters. . . the MESSAGE. The message is breaking through.
Small minded Clinton supporters seem to be only think about this one primary. That's why I don't think they'll win, too small minded.
The Old Lie
(123 posts)In this case, the attention of moral economy when there is greed everywhere. Bernie has seen it, smelt it, heard it, tasted it, and felt it. It is an important issue that is near and dear to Bernie.

(13,297 posts)search the phrase "transcends beyond" in Google and you'll find writers use that phrase endlessly
so here's a ladder so you can come down off your high horse and leave other people alone who are trying to express themselves as THEY deem fit

I, personally, think we've been getting signs of a certain endorsement from the birdie on to this latest visit.

(6,974 posts)And it's not a problem for me that Bernie Sanders got to meet with the current Pope as I was very lucky, along with thousands of others to be able to celebrate mass with His Holiness, Pope John Paul II at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum back in 1987. Such wonderful memories via pictures and memorabilia that I still have that will live with me forever.
So no, not all Hillary supporters "allegedly" begrudge Bernie Sanders meeting with the Pope. Pretty sure he'll cherish that meeting and memory forever as he should.

(29,248 posts)So as a more spiritually attuned person, may I ask you: how do you not view her moral issues as by far overwhelming her positive qualities for the presidency?
I am asking in total sincerity even though I have felt angry at the constant sniping by Hillary supporters here. For me, yes I think she's smart and "savvy" and I'd love to have a woman in that office, but the morality and ethics is a deal breaker with her. Selling weapons & so many other deals as SOS in exchange for huge Clinton Fdn donations, having a far too-low threshold for engaging in militarism, actively profiteering/influence granting for corporate and large donor $, failing to follow the law and risking national security in an attempt to hide her emails, so much lying about Bernie and her record, etc etc...
I see this as a pattern of self-dealing at the expense of our poorest, our economy and so many lives. It seems like a get-everything-you-can-even-if-it's-ethically-questionable mentality instead of a principled "let's help fix the country's problems" orientation. It makes me feel very emotional because it's such a stark contrast, as I see it, with Bernie's main focus on helping people, saving the environment, etc. I don't mean to rant, I've just never gotten an answer from a Hillary supporter that helps me understand the ethics of wanting her over him.

(6,007 posts)Bernie supporters, for the most part, never looked at this as a political move or advantage, but like you said, more of something good.
You have a nice, balanced mind. And everybody is better for that.
