over John's affair?
Just curious.

(2,348 posts)does that mean we can fairly criticize Bernie for Jane's failed tenure leading Burlington College? That would severely undercut his credibility on college...

(130,908 posts)but she was not, so 'we' cannot fairly criticize whatever Jane may have done.

(37,428 posts)Predicting that renewed Lewinsky Fever wouldn't be good for Clinton's campaign is just an opinion. For all I know, it might work in her favor.
That's not an attack.

(23,340 posts)But I don't know if it was because of the issue of the affair or the issue from the affair.
Anyway, different folks.
We'll know how Hillary feels next January, when the president is sworn in as "Hillary Rodham Clinton" or "Hillary Diane Rodham".

(6,114 posts)Quite a few even here at DU attacked her, and Elizabeth was a DUer herself.
Interestingly, many of the attacks on her and on John were based on "facts" later proven in court as being total fabrications. All discussions of that were quickly dropped by the MSM once the verdict came in. Many of the online versions of the stories discuss the allegations in great detail but fail to mention the finding of not guilty or that the various monies that supposedly financed John's affair had actually gone to build the dream house of the "whistleblower" aide who was scamming everyone.

(6,114 posts)There was even some grave dancing. It was pretty sick.
Later, when John was found not guilty in Federal court, nearly everyone at DU and in the media continued to claim he was guilty. This was in spite of the evidence in court clearly proving that nearly all the claims against him were complete fabrications by the governments key witness.

(42,862 posts)... didn't seem to care so much about how someone voted on the IWR when they were supporting John Edwards. (I'm looking at YOU, Sarandon.)
And bless Elizabeth Edwards ... she handled that wish such grace and dignity.

(10,559 posts)Repeatedly. On national television. And I am critical of her attacking the women who came forward and "creating" a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy (tm) instead of just admitting she was married to a cheat.
I am also of the belief that we need to know how subject she is to blackmail if he does it again.
Normally it wouldn't be my business, but since she already has a bad reputation of how she handles unpleasant reality (goes straight to denial land) I think it is a legitimate concern.
If people think raising those issues is an "attack on Hillary"...?

(12,655 posts)the reference to elizabeth edwards was ridiculous. she never insulted or attacked the woman involved. i agree with you that hillary totally owns her behavior towards monica and the other women. as i said in my comment, i haven't seen any "attacks" since i consider those valid criticisms. and i have not seen anyone anywhere blame her for his behavior.
i think some supporters are getting desperate and are getting lost in the weeds.

(45,319 posts)strong public image included her standing next to John while he bashed away at marriage equality on the basis of his own views being so inherently traditional and 'one man, one woman' that he could not support equality, he'd talk about his Baptist Deacon Daddy and say 'it's just a part of me, the idea that marriage is sacred'. And Liz would nod along and later say 'but I support gay rights' in a half ass attempted to have that cake and eat that cake.
I have known many people who died young and not all of them spend a bit of their last days helping smear a minority group to cover up for a corrupt associate of theirs. I say associate because it sure was not the marriage they both claimed it was. She let him claim he was superior to all gay people, that their marriage had a 'Sanctity' others lacked because God approved of John but not of me. And she knew the truth the entire time.

(45,084 posts)Did Elizabeth Edwards attack John's girlfriend and was Elizabeth attacked over John's affair? Hillary has never been attacked over Bills affairs.
It's disgusting and vile that you use a dead woman, a DUer whose tragic end to her marriage was played out very publicly to get your silly little lie across.

(45,251 posts)Some feminists attacked her for putting up with it or how she handled it. I did not.
When the Edwards affair became known, Elizabeth Edwards was too busy dying with kids for me to attack her. Don't know about anyone else.

(2,161 posts)I'm a feminist who walked a mile in Paula Jones's boots when I was a young professional woman.
I have a very low opinion of Bill and don't want him back in the White House in any capacity, even as First Gentleman. It's one reason I won't vote for Hillary, since a vote for Hillary is a vote for Bill as First Gent, but it's not an attack on her.
