You don't meet the pope unless he wants to meet you, everybody knows this

Bernie was invited to the Vatican and he met the Pope, but the pope had to try and make it seem as if it was non-political. this is the game the Vatican playing.

He doesn't want to be seen taking sides, but Bernie was invited, and he did meet the Pope.

The Pope has a security detail, he was under no obligation to meet bernie.

This meeting happened because the Pope wanted it to happen.

Still, it would be unfair to call what the senator did “doorstepping.” Francis would have had to approve the encounter, and his security detail would have made sure Sanders wasn’t just milling about the foyer when the pope was heading out if the pope wasn’t inclined to meet him.

while nosing around. They are searching for anything they can find. Bernie met the Pope and it wasn't by chance resulting in a passing accidental courtesy handshake. But bless their little hearts they keep spinning for all their worth. Bernie was invited to the Vatican to speak. Bernie met the Pope, it was a planned meeting Bernie supporters should no longer give them the satisfaction of responding to their flamebait bullshit.

Coz they're not highly-trained or anything.

Note: The Swiss Guards protect the pope. Unlike the Secret Service, the Guards are an ARMY. They are not highly-trained police officers.

Hillary fans are delusional if they think that Bernie could just walk in the Pope's living quarters, hang out in the foyer and ambush Pope Frank without an invitation.

Actually, the Pope himself, said they might need to consider a psychiatrist.

Look, the Pope speaks fairly good English, but probably can't parse words as well as Camp Weathervane. That a bit is left out in his translation isn't a big deal.

But when I see the Twitter feeds of others who were actually there, I can ascertain that the meeting was A. Summoned, B. Taken in good faith, C. A bit more than a "howdy."

... is a source of bewilderment.

To hear them say it, Bernie let himself into the Pope's apartment, ate his pizza and drank the beer in his fridge.

Few people make arguments designed on the assumption that their audience is smarter than they are. The arguments from them therefore imply a great deal about their own point of reference.

Why, just the other day I was hiding behind one of the pillars at the white house and popped out to offer a surprise hello to Barack Obama. He was so pleased to see me that several members of his staff jumped in and gave me such a big hug that I still have a slight concussion from the whole affair. But it was worth it for the photo op! See...our world leaders are extremely accessible, and in fact, they prefer it when you show initiative.
