(1,166 posts)As a woman, I really, really, really find it extremely distasteful when people use the phenomenon of sexism so utterly cynically. But the corporate media have fattened us all up on a constant diet of cynicism and an ethics of "the ends justify the means" and "winner takes all" so .... sigh ..... what can one expect?

It's a comparison about how they were treated under similar circumstances.

Obama is NOT running for a nomination or for President.

(3,166 posts)the sexism of accusing anyone of sexism who criticises Hillary and those people like Albright and Steinham basically saying all women should vote for Hillary because she is a women, now that is sexism
SusanCalvin
(6,592 posts)Not everything is sexist. Some things are corporatist.
And nobody called her personally a "whore." It was meant to apply to a lot of elected officials. And it was meant in a corporate manner in any case.
(Yes, I know that word should not have been used in any case. But it was not applied directly to her nor meant only for her.)

(6,123 posts)1. Obama is not running for president
2. The throwing of the money was directly related to the incredibly, expensive price of the fundraising dinner at the Clooney's.
SusanCalvin
(6,592 posts)They're really grasping at straws here....
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)Sanders has received $10,000 in the past from a Hillary find raiser, we need a Democratic congress to get progressive ideas passed. How much did their fund raiser get?
Bjornsdotter
(6,123 posts)...the topic was about the money being thrown at Hillary and an attempt to link it to sexism.
I have no idea how much the Clooney extravaganza raised.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)Go back and read the OP again, "fund raiser" was there.
Bjornsdotter
(6,123 posts).......sexism and the money being thrown. Just because a word is there does not mean it is the subject, but you already knew that.
Hillary collected her maximum amount before monies were funneled elsewhere. Also Hillary attended another fundraiser the same day....entry price $2700.

(52,162 posts)If someone had named Obama and then talked about corporate lawn jockeys no one, not a single solitary person, would say that was OK. (3,040 posts)Hillary is the embodiment of greed NOT that she is a whore. In fact the gentleman that used the term 'corporate whore' was not associated with those throwing the money.
But, please spin away.
SusanCalvin
(6,592 posts)And I'll give an example of greed - giving those corporate speeches when she already had plenty of money and knew good and well she was going to run for president.

(68,868 posts)Whether Sanders wants to foment a leftwing Brooks Brothers riot in an effort to disenfranchise all the black voters who provided Hillary with her margin of victory in the primary will be up to him. I don't think his ego is that out of control, but we will see.
But here on June 14 the primary voting will be over, and there will be a winner and a loser, whether the loser acknowledges reality or not. Then it will be general election mode here.

(68,868 posts)superdelegates to overrule the voters.
The election is over when the voting is over. Sanders can pretend to be the nominee all he wants, he'll just get laughed at.
morningfog
(18,115 posts)It would not be Sanders disenfranchising anyone, it is the DNC who made the rules. If Sanders went to the convention 50-100 delegates behind Hillary, for example, and the super delegates broke in favor of Bernie, he would not have disenfranchised a single voter. If anyone had, it would the DNC and the super delegates.
Further, you can't claim that the 50-100 pledged delegate difference can be reduced to African American voters. It is just silly.
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)are not going to override the votes of Democrats in order to steal the Democratic nomination on behalf of a non-Democrat.
We'll see what kind of human being Sanders is in the first two weeks of June.

(18,115 posts)But if they did, it's in their discretion and the recipient would not be disenfranchising black voters.
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)Sanders would lose superdelegate support if he tried that kind of stunt--no way would Jeff Merkley and Keith Ellison support that kind of effort.
The media would have a field day with him. So would late night comedians/talk shows.
We'll see what kind of person he is.

(1,235 posts)really? They do work that usually is a result of circumstances beyond their control.
They are usually forced into their situations. It's like calling someone 'middle class' as an intended insult.
The sexism, if there is any, comes from the 'Johns' that use the service, and the morons that think being called a 'Whore' just means you're being negatively equated as a female sex worker. The ignorance and stereotyping is breath-taking.
If any of the females in my family were discovered to be sex workers I would still proudly call them my family ... if they were discovered to be in a government position, taking money from large corporations and then writing laws that benefited the people giving them money over the average citizens, I would no longer consider them part of my family.
Hillary should strive to be as open and honest as a sex worker.
