George Clooney hopes Bernie stays in the race "for the entire election."

Clooney hopes Sanders stays in the race

One of Hillary Clinton’s most famous supporters, actor George Clooney, says he hopes Bernie Sanders “stays in for the entire election.”

Clooney, who hosted a big-dollar fundraiser for the former secretary of state Friday, said in an interview aired Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he likes the Vermont senator, who has been challenging Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.

“I think what he's saying in this election is important if you're a Democrat,” Clooney said, adding he'd do “whatever I can” to help Sanders if he wins the nomination.

]Clooney also said he understood the criticism from protesters outside Friday’s event for Clinton, who has long been the Democratic front-runner, saying he shared their distaste for money in politics.

“They're absolutely right,” Clooney said of protesters. “It is an obscene amount of money. The Sanders campaign when they talk about it is absolutely right. It's ridiculous that we should have this kind of money in politics. I agree completely.”

I saw the entire interview on Meet the Press & I was very impressed with his answer. He was forthright & honest; there was nothing he said that I could disagree with.

That's like when Bernie Supporters get attacked, ya know? So cool he said that though.

7. I wondered for a moment what was so refreshing about this story.

And I realized, this is the first time I've ever seen a Clinton surrogate say that s/he will support Bernie should she not get the nomination.

but was disappointed that he is supporting Hillary when his heart is really for Bernie.
I guess friendship trumps principle. His wife is a famous human rights activist lawyer--
how can she support Hillary, knowing the turmoil she caused in the Middle East?

and just majorly supported Hillary's campaign by giving her a fund raiser.

But, it's kind of hard to believe anything he says, because he's playing to both sides.

11. I liked him 100% even before he said this about Bernie

I mean, to be honest, barring indictments which everyone says aren't likely, Bernie is almost certainly not going to be the nominee. I wish it were otherwise, obviously, and this has been a crazy primary season so who knows, but it's probably going to be Hillary. So if George and Amal want to raise money for the likely nominee, I was not ever going to criticize them.

Having said that, it's good to see this combination of pragmatism and idealism. Right now, money is needed for someone to become President. It shouldn't be that way, and maybe someday it won't be that day, but until that day, George and Amal are going to raise money so that at least that President is going to be a Democrat.

I love that George and, I'm more than certain, Amal believe that money should not have anything to do with political success. They are good people and I'm so happy that they're on our side.
