Refresher: Unbeknownst to Clinton, IT firm had emails stored on cloud; now in FBI’s hands

Back in October I wasn't following the email thing with Hillary. Like many I thought it was just right wing hot air.

Since that time I've read about the fact that the server was not encrypted for 2 months, the Sydney Blumenthal email exchanges, the hacker Guccifer who hacked Blumenthal's account could have other emails saved in a cloud account, and the Clinton Foundation public corruption investigation.

Apparently I missed a few things like finding out that some of Hillary's email ended up in a cloud by accident. This occurred with a second company without any security clearance that dealt with Hillary's server company that had no security clearance.

Then I find out that employees at the first server company were instructed by Clinton company to delete emails, the employees were concerned about cover up, and that some of Clinton's work emails were not handed over as they were on her Blackberry not the server.

Democrats really need to take a long hard look at this whole fiasco. Hillary may be the nominee for the party and this could continue to blow up on many fronts. Her handling of this whole email affair has been horrific at the very least. This is much more than just right wing hot air....

Unbeknownst to Clinton, IT firm had emails stored on cloud; now in FBI’s hands

BY GREG GORDON AND ANITA KUMAR
McClatchy Washington Bureau - OCTOBER 6, 2015 1:29 PM

WASHINGTON
A Connecticut company, which backed up Hillary Clinton‘s emails at the request of a Colorado firm, apparently surprised her aides by storing the emails on a “cloud” storage system designed to optimize data recovery.

The firm, Datto Inc., said Wednesday that it turned over the contents of its storage to the FBI on Tuesday.

In other developments, the State Department is asking Clinton to search again for any emails, regardless of format, from the first two months of her tenure, according to a document filed Tuesday by the State Department in response to a lawsuit about her emails.

The request to Clinton attorney David Kendall, dated Oct. 2, comes weeks after the State Department obtained a series of emails that Clinton did not turn over despite her claim that she sent the agency all her work-related correspondence.

The chain of emails, dating from Jan. 10, 2009 to Feb. 1, 2009, were exchanged with former Gen. David Petraeus when he headed the military’s U.S. Central Command, responsible for running the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and mostly relate to personnel matters...

Politico: Employee at Clinton's email hosting company feared a cover-up

Platte River Networks said they were asked to limit backups of her server.

An employee at the tech company that maintained Hillary Clinton’s homemade email server was concerned that instructions from Clinton's representatives would have the tech firm “covering up some shaddy [sic] shit,” according to emails obtained by Senate investigators.

Employees at Denver-based Platte River Networks in a mid-August email chain were trying to find records that showed that the Clinton Executive Service Corp., the company paying the Platte River bill, had instructed them to reduce the length of time backups of Clinton's emails were kept...

Sometimes Hillary would forget things, especially after she fell down and went boom!

Or the more obvious explanation, she's simply corrupt to the core and greedy as hell. I don't think America needs that, and the Democratic Party should have higher standards.

How Unsafe Was Hillary Clinton's Secret Staff Email System?

Sam Biddle
3/05/15 1:30pmFiled to: HILLARY CLINTON

When Hillary Clinton ditched government email in favor of a secret, personal address, it wasn't just an affront to Obama's vaunted transparency agenda—security experts consulted by Gawker have laid out a litany of potential threats that may have exposed her email conversations to potential interception by hackers and foreign intelligence agencies.

"It is almost certain that at least some of the emails hosted at clintonemails.com were intercepted," independent security expert and developer Nic Cubrilovic told Gawker.

Within the instant classic "ClintonEmail.com" domain, it appears there are three separate servers. The domain's blank landing page is hosted by Confluence Networks, a web firm in the British Virgin Islands, known for monetizing expired domain names and spam.

But the real worry comes from two other public-facing ClintonEmail.com subdomains, which can allow anyone with the right URL to try to sign in.

One is sslvpn.clintonemail.com, which provides a login page that apparently uses an SSL VPN—a protocol that allows your web browser to create an encrypted connection to a local network from any internet connection—to users to access their email. That sounds secure, and under the right circumstances, for regular users, it can be. But there are two huge problems with using it for the Secretary of State's communications with her staff and others.

to read all the different problems with Clinton's email server.

A Secretary of State choosing to use an unsecured non encrypted sever instead of a secure server is in itself astonishing enough. How a person like the SoS could think it would be ok to discuss top secret and confidential government information like this is mind boggling. Even the free email services are encrypted.

Hillary has already been found to be negligent in turning over all government work related emails.

Then you have Hillary ignoring Obama's demand that Sydney Blumenthal not be hired to the State Department. Hillary just hired him through her foundation instead and used him for intelligence information.

Two companies who have ZERO security clearance had access to Hillary's emails which violates the law.

The Clinton's use of their foundation while Hillary was SoS has lead the FBI to expand their investigation to include public corruption.

Isn't this bad enough without an indictment? Why would Americans want to elect the kind of leader is this sloppy in dealing with their conduct in office to the highest office in the land?

"Mr. Blumenthal was on the payroll of the Clinton Foundation at the same time he was being paid by groups helping Mrs. Clinton’s presidential run, at the same time he was advising a U.S. business seeking Libyan contracts, at the same time he was secretly advising Secretary of State Clinton about Libya"

What business was Blumenthal advising?
Did Blumenthal trade on the knowledge of the pending invasion?
Did Hill get her vig?
Did Bill 'make a speech' for 500,000?

Did Blumenthal set up dirty deals?
Was this one of his primary functions?

So much black water waiting to bubble up.

One expert said it was less secure than the encryption they had one some dating site that got hacked and all their clients' information was put out on the internet. LESS secure than that.
