"New York City Councilman Jumaane Williams fired up a crowd in Brooklyn over the weekend with a rousing endorsement of Sen. Bernie Sanders for president.
What [New York Daily News] said about Bernie Sanders is that he is at war with reality, Williams told a large group of supporters in Prospect Park on Sunday. And I thought to myself, Youre goddamn right.
Because too many peoples reality in this borough, and in this city, in this nation needs to be at war with, he continued. Too many peoples reality is struggle. And maybe if youre not at war with reality, youre not focused enough.
According to the councilman, the Sanders campaign represented a political revolutionary moonshot.
From an eight-hour workday, to no child labor, from LGBT rights, to womens suffrage, from the Civil Rights movement, to freeing the slaves, were all revolutionary moonshots, he insisted. In fact, the birth of this nation was a revolutionary moonshot. The people who say it cannot be done, please move out of the way of the people who are doing.
Im proud today to endorse the next president of the United States of America, Senator Bernie Sanders, who will bring the revolutionary moonshot, baby! Williams concluded."

(13,877 posts)especially POC (Politicians of Color), had done so sooner. Nina Turner has been out for a while. But bonus points to all...in any case.
I think perhaps this may be reflecting some of the last days switching. No one knows how to categorize the "new demographics" and they change rapidly.

That said, I think he's made tremendous inroads. Spike Lee endorsed Bernie and that's amazing to me!

(8,175 posts)Many people want to go with the winner and in the beginning when Bernie wasn't known, nobody would even bother to check him out to compare him to Hillary...until his rallies started hitting their state and their local news. Suddenly the crowds got their attention and they started to wake up. That's why the size of Bernie's rallies are so important.
I wish people would be more involved in politics, but it is what it is. Maybe the youth vote will stay more connected because of the seeds of revolution.

If not for dirty politics and a corporate media, Bernie would be winning hands down. It's clear that as people get to know him he becomes the preferred candidate by most.

(13,877 posts)maturing of his campaign in New York...native son and all...is providing much higher exposure, and a bit more MSM coverage, as now we have a "horse race".
That will ultimately bring them out even if they (MSM) don't want him to win. It sells.

(13,877 posts)And a big reason Sanders had even been able to move up and get really competitive has been the social media of the people. That can't be bought.
So the next intentional roadblock will be the Superdelegates.

The power grab was described by one DLC member as the "intellectual leveraged buyout" of the party.
The Wise Geek says that a leveraged buyout is also known as a hostile takeover.
