2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum60,000 Fewer Democrats in Brooklyn and No Clear Reason Why
The county of Kings is playing an outsized role in New York States presidential primary race particularly among Democrats. As the birthplace of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Brooklyn figures into nearly every one of his stump speeches. Its also where former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has based her national campaign headquarters.
Yet, even as the candidates lavish love on Brooklyn, a WNYC analysis of state voter enrollment statistics found that the number of active registered Democrats dropped there by 63,558 voters between November 2015 and April 2016. That translates into a 7 percent drop in registered Democrats in the borough.
No other borough in New York City nor county in the rest of the state saw such a significant decline in active registered Democrats. In fact, only 7 of the state's 62 counties saw a drop in the number of Democrats. Everywhere else saw the numbers increase.

(12,233 posts)Wonder what they were doing with the Sanders data when they refused access to it for that week? Seems like they were using it at the DNC or rather Debbie's fundraising machine for Hillary... The Democratic Party is going to lose over this. I have a feeling we will have a new major political party after these elections if Hillary is the nominee? The base isn't happy with the corrupt things going on.
When exit polling is greater than 5% in any election, the vote was stollen... And no where, I don't care what candidate you have, has 75% lead on mail in ballots in states that allow them. Either votes were thrown away or flipped. Generally speaking, mail in ballots reflect more along the same day voting with a bit more scewed in favor for the more conservative politician because older people tend to stay in one place for longer and prefer to use mail in ballots, instead of stand in line.

What's so special about 7%?

(12,233 posts)Candidate challenging have to pay for any re-counts that may be challenged...plus, it makes the other candidate look like a "sore loser"... But just imagine if Al Frankin didn't challenge the vote?
What is surprising to me is his support for Hillary; knowing what occurred in his own election for Senate in 08.

Yeah I know - but what is more important here? Honesty or keeping independents from voting?

(12,233 posts)And we all know who the Gov supports. He places Hillary beside him at the $15.00 min wage law signing like she had anything to do with the grassroots movement EVER, that she didn't say $12.00 was good enough, or that she stood out in the ran with fast food workers, some of the MOST desperately abused, discarded, replaceable workers in America, and said they should make a living wage working 40hrs a week. That their time was valuable. That their time should be paid for. That working a full week's job in our new "service economy", deserved also the ability to pay for shelter, pay for food, pay the bills.
How is it that she's even considered a bold and effective leader? Or that she's even a good economic candidate for women? Many of these workers in min wage jobs are women with children. Lacking the basics for everyday items automatically places their future, their children's future, and their lifetime happiness at an all time low. How are these people supposed to go to college and build themselves up? How can they save for emergencies? How can they think of taking a vacation or taking more than 2 wks off in between having a baby?
Plus, she doesn't support a Medicare for all that would help so many underpaid people OR free college so people can better themselves without massive loads of debt (and no guarantee of a job that will help pay those loans off). How is she a leader when, oh $12 is good enough. Or fixing items around the edges of a for profit health insurance scam is good enough? Or that higher education and pre-k is too costly?
Why can't we have these basic necessities that other countries can do? How bold is her leadership or her willingness to take on the wealthy who are making the narrative on these ideas as impractical? That we don't have the money? That we need to cut social security? Or give more tax breaks to the wealthy?
How are lives going to improve under her direct leadership? I do think we will ramp up our war response in the ME though. The MIC will be humming along and more of our children dying and more children dying in ME countries.
