2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOK then...let's do this
Bernie's Burlington Vermont house was worth $321,900 when he bought it. 405K now.

He has a condo in Washington, but I cannot find any info to link to it.
Now here is Hillary's Chapaqua NY home worth 1.7 million when they bought it (2.3 now)
And her DC home worth 2.85 million when they bought it

So, do we really want to talk about Bernie's tax forms and how much he writes off on home interest?

(11,945 posts)checked her transparency and cannot believe they've put her "under review."
Bmus is SO careful in what she says; they just resent her because she doesn't let them get away with their bs.
This is really upsetting to me, she's one of the people who befriended me early on and stayed a friend.
The lowest of the low are really cracking down against us now.

(11,945 posts)I'm reading the bmus thread in the Bernie group now. It was done yesterday! I feel bad I hadn't noticed.
I believe they're going to try to get more of us.

(8,175 posts)A Dooney & Bourke that I bought when I was working, that I've been using daily for 45 years now. I bought a good one because I was tired of having to buy a new purse (for over $100 a shot for a good one) every year or so, because they couldn't hold up to use. Mine is starting to look ratty now, but 45 years is a lot of wear and tear on a purse.
That saved me a couple thousand I would have spent on purses if I hadn't found this one.
They are actually a little cheaper now (cause you can find them on sales) than when I bought mine, but they were new on the market then, and the only really quality leather purse I saw.

(8,175 posts)It's one of the reasons I hate Walmart so much. The crap they sell there is unbelievable and it's never made to last. Every year it seems it gets worse.

(8,175 posts)Hillary Clinton released a new ad this morning reminding voters of her middle-class background. But theres nothing middle-class about the way she vacations.
According to the Daily Mail, Clinton will spend her upcoming break from the campaign trail at a $50,000-per-week beachfront rental in the Hamptons along with Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, her son-in-law Marc Mezvinsky, and her new granddaughter, Charlotte. The four-bedroom Amagansett mansion, which Clinton is renting for the second consecutive year from Republican donor Andre Nasser and his wife Lois, features a 50 ft pool and a private beach. The two week rental will cost the Clintons nearly twice the U.S. median household income ($51,939, as of September 2014).

Now I have to give them credit...they don't own this, they just rent it.

(11,996 posts)A government watchdog is calling for an ethics investigation into whether former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave preferential treatment to her hedge fund millionaire son-in-law, Marc Mezvinsky.
In a complaint to be filed on Monday, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT), will ask the Office of Government Ethics to look into whether Clinton gave special access to a deep sea mining company called Neptune Minerals after a 2012 email from Mezvinsky.
It appears that then Secretary Hillary Clinton gave a private company special access to the State Department based upon the companys relationships with Secretary Clintons family members and donors to the Clinton Foundation, reads the groups complaint.

(11,945 posts)According to Wikipedia, Bernie's father Eli emigrated to America in 1921 at age 17 and supported his family as a paint salesman. The family lived in a small two-bedroom rent controlled apartment in Brooklyn where, though the family never lacked for food or clothing, major purchases, "like curtains or a rug", were difficult to afford. His mother, Dorothy, was a homemaker who, Bernie has said, dreamed of living in a house someday. She died at the age of 46.

According to Wikipedia, Hillary grew up in suburban Park Ridge, Illinois. Her father, Hugh Ellsworth Rodham, managed a successful small business in the textile industry. Her mother, Dorothy, was a homemaker.

(8,175 posts)I wish more people cared. Too many don't seem to care if they keep promoting the Oligarchy.
Bill and Hillary are one of the most powerful couples in this country and so many think that kind of power is just great. If it's used for good, it is...thinking Carter here. But I don't even know if Carter is considered powerful...even though he's got money. He's supposed to be worth about 5 million. But that isn't even money compared to what the Clintons have. It seems only people who are lusting after power (and money) are the ones who get it.
This kind of power really scares me, because it never represents those of us with no power.
