(5,790 posts)1) Try for a decisive win in CA as a means of convincing superdelegates to switch
2) Withdraw
3) Withdraw and run as an independent
4) Keep fighting a losing battle
I think he goes with option 4. Money is not an issue for his campaign, and he'd be a credible back-up plan if Hillary had an unforeseen event.

(45,491 posts)1. The deadline to get on the ballot for an independent is already past in many states.
2. Many States have sore loser previsions that would not allow him on the ballot since he already appeared as a Democrat.
3. Weaver and Devine are too amateur to accomplish this since they couldn't foresee getting their supporters registered in advance in States with early deadlines.
4. (And most importantly) He said he wouldn't
Also your #1 is unlikely and #4 is pointless unless the intent is too harm the Democratic party. If you are hoping for HRC to be indited, that will never happen.

(5,790 posts)...nor do I think she should be. That said, you can't totally discount it as a possibility.
I'll grant #3 is a longshot, but I'll point out that it won't stop Trump from doing just that if he doesn't get the GOP nom.
If you look at the states coming up between now and CA, most demographically skew to Hillary (no surprise there).Weaver (who may be whistling past the graveyard) is in front of the media saying they are going to lobby the SDs all summer.
The only chance I see at this point for any case for Sanders to be made to the SDs would be if he picked up a decisive (by which I mean 60/40 or more) win in CA. The best analogy I can make is college football: try to win your last meaningful game by a huge margin, and then go lobby the sportswriters and coaches that vote in the ranking polls that your prior losses didn't mean that much. It'd be a longshot play: skip NJ & PA and put all of the remaining campaign time and money into California, and then hope he can get the SDs and media on his side.

(30,481 posts)I think he pulls the reigns back from the highly unethical Weaver and gets back on message. Weaver has really hurt him. The news with Lester Holt last night was talking about how negative the Sanders campaign is. It is something Sanders never wanted to hear but he flat out owns it at this point.
Sanders continues after his well deserved day of rest and he takes control back from the unethical actions of those around him. He knows it's time to get the most out of this he can. Sanders has made it clear he feels his best chance at change is to have an impact on the Democratic Party itself. That is what he is going to do. He has some great friends who really understand the importance of what he is saying in people like Clinton and Warren.
Weaver is a self-centered arrogant piece of garbage who is only in this for himself. Even though it is clear that Sanders ego has been stroked and is getting the best of him, this is not who he is. Sanders will spend the day standing up for himself to Weaver. To this point I believe Weaver has simply run Sanders over.

(36,222 posts)Sort of delusional. Especially how many times he has said he likes and respects Hillary Clinton and how much better she is compared to a republican.
