2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHUGE STORM COULD REALLY
affect voting up the Eastern Coast!! States such as MD on up through NY!! Many voting states that are mostly BLUE!
Now I'm really afraid, just sayin'
Over & OUT!
presumably it would be worse if it turned in and hit swing states like NC and VA?
I hope Blue will stay blue regardless

(26 posts)Edit - If anything, considering Obama's advantage in early voting, some bad weather could prove to be beneficial to our side.

(15,435 posts)what affect will it have? Extend the election, try to re-direct people to other places in an already screwed up voter suppression election? I don't know. Just wondering out loud.
I live in Florida so maybe I'm overly skittish. I voted absentee as did the rest of my family here, there are 11 of us within 3 families.
Election jitters... I've come to believe Romney is not only a (special) kind of LIAR, a man who makes the word psychopath come to mind and dare I say EVIL. Don't like thinking this way.

(26,045 posts)...because they don't have early voting. If people are still feeling the after-effects of the storm by election day (and particularly if it hammers Philadelphia, where most of the reliably-Democratic votes come from) and don't vote because of it, absentees may wind up deciding the state -- and they practically always favor Republicans. And, I have to admit, without PA in the Democratic column, Obama's going to have to pretty much run the table on the swing states to win.

(15,435 posts)Voting precincts wiped out & places unable to get it back together in time. People are already confused because of the dirty tricks.
Elderly people who may become even more confused!

(329 posts)The cities will be fine for voting. The rural areas (Romneyland) will be the ones that may have problems for a while.
Urban, high-density areas (like Philadelphia) are more likely to recover quickly from power outages and the like. It's rural areas, which tend to lean red, that might still be affected on Election Day.

(26,045 posts)I was more visualizing a Katrina-style hit on Philadelphia, which hopefully won't happen -- and not just for the effect on the election.

(21 posts)Maybe reduce the popular vote margin but not electoral votes

(26,045 posts)It's only about D+5 at this point, so depressed turnout could easily flip the state, if more Democrats than Republicans were hard-hit.
