Howard Fineman Goes Off the Deep End

He has been upset with Obama because of him not doing an on the record interview with the DMR, and now the endorsement by them of Romney has Howard going a little nuts on twitter.

Howard Fineman ‏@howardfineman
It's not scientific or quantifiable by Nate Silver but Des Moines Register endorsement of Mitt first time it's' clear O may lose the race.

Howard Fineman ‏@howardfineman
So DMR endorsed Romney. Obama deserves what he gets in Iowa for this case of Political sloth.

Howard Fineman ‏@howardfineman
#Obama admitted in DM register off the record interview that he hadn't talked to the edit board in 4 years!! Political malpractice.

Howard Fineman ‏@howardfineman
Des Moines Register shouldn't have agreed to off-the-record interview with Obama: Obama should have agreed to ON-the-record. Bad all around.

And plenty more about the Des Moines Register interview.

being dissed. Remember Obama can be a cold mofo if he doesn't care for you and there are a lot of media folks who are pissed they haven't got the love they think they deserve.

He's been like this lately. As if O hurt his feelings. It's weird.

...newspaper endorsements to a candidates success? In 2004, I was one of 5 candidates (5 districts) running in a local election to be endorsed by the states (Arizona) largest newspaper. I was the only one who won. My anecdotal observation of this state's election results is that the value of a newspapers endorsement is minimal.

How come when the Cleveland Plain Dealer here in Ohio endorsed Obama, he didn't mention how they've picked every winner(of Ohio and the election) since 1980.

I like him, but I don't know why he's being so dramatic tonight. Is he drunk or something?

Is based on the how much access DMR got from O. has Howard forgotten how many times Obama has been to Iowa during his presidency and how many important announcements were made IN IOWA?! who cares bout Iowa, its all about how the DMR feels slighted. how fucking petty.

Excuse my capitalization issues. My tablet sucks at typing.

Howard Fineman and Chris Matthews are so old school and still believe newspapers mean something. I haven't opened a newspaper in 6-7 years. Media is so different and Fineman hasn't caught up.

Fineman is living in the dark ages. But he is a baby boomer. Newspaper endorsements, while nice to have, don't mean that much to a lot of voters 45 and under, of which I am one. Or 55 and under, for that matter. I may read some newspaper articles on line but many people in their 20's, 30's and 40's are mistrustful of the media as a whole. And Romney already has a majority of the older voters. That is not what he needs to pick off to win.

Howard, please catch up with modern times.

1) Not getting endorsement hurts a bit, but Obama will still win state.
2) That whole off the record thing was a fucking absolute blunder by Obama. I don't know what his team was thinking there.
3) Knowing #2 and how the media is trying to keep the specter of a close race alive despite the math, this just blows more helium in that balloon.

There have been some questionable decisions by the Obama team in the past month with the 1st debate strategy being the prime example. Luckily this won't have the same impact but it does give the media assholes another few days of pushing the Romney momentum meme.

Old people, that's who. The rest of us realize it's a dying medium. In 30 years when I'm 65, I think most reporters will simply be independent and post articles online without newspapers existing.
