A friend in South Bend got one. He said it had their household and 5 neighbors listed as having voted in the past two elections. Claims it doesn't bother him, other than thinking it's no one's business. I explained that the info was possibly pulled from public information, and that no one knows *how they voted, only that presumably they did vote. Because I know them to be very evangelical, I added the caveat that the info likely wasn't even correct, and to ignore it, because of the politics behind it all (they were concerned that two of the names "haven't lived in the state for a number of years".
Update:
______
I found this story in the Indianapolis Star this morning:
State officials: Ignore neighborhood voting 'audits'
The Indiana secretary of state's office is urging Hoosier voters to disregard mailed letters that purport to show the voting participation records for recipients and their neighbors.
The letters come from a group called Americans for Limited Government and say they are providing neighborhood voting record "audits" showing participation -- or lack thereof -- in the 2008, 2010 and 2012 elections, according to Secretary of State Connie Lawson. Often, the field for 2012 is marked "pending."
Some voters who have complained about the mail pieces say the listed records are incorrect.
A news release from Lawson's office points out that Indiana law limits access to voter participation records. However, while the state provides such records only to state political parties and legislative caucuses, voters' records also can be obtained from county voter registration offices.

(10,336 posts)neighbors, and whether or not they voted in 08 and 10. It is billed as a "findings of past civic participation in your community". I assume it's to stir up feelings of non-existent voter fraud. I told my friend as much, and to disregard it.

(2,711 posts)It is an attempt to juice turnout. It's a GOTV technique that supposedly works way better than any other.

(1 post)I live in florida and today received a Vote History Audit. it included my name and six of my neighbors. Besides the fact that it is NOBODY's business whether I voted or not, it was INCORRECT in saying I did not vote in 2004. I have voted in every election since I turned 21. Where do they get this stuff???

(10,336 posts)fraud, and voter ID is not necessary. If they spent as much time looking for real fraud as they did voter fraud, they would be spending a lot of time at the country club.

(2,711 posts)Everyone's voting history (at least as far as whether they voted) is public information.

(2,711 posts)way to juice turnout.
Send a postcard to each address in a predominately partisan area showing the registered voters at the address (public records), whether they voted in the last (several) election(s) (again public records), showing neighbors and their voter registration status (again public records), and informing the occupant that similar postcards/letters will be sent out after the election.
Apparently, years after middle school peer pressure still works.

(21,642 posts)Don't know if they're sending letters in Missouri as well as Indiana, but the letter you received probably has some sort of return address.

(51,005 posts)And as you pointed out that they missed one of the times that you voted how many other errors do they have? And point it out to your friends that complain about voter fraud.
The problem isn't voter fraud. It is election fraud by Republicans when they tamper illegally with forms.
