One huge benefit of the media's pushing the "horse race"..

Voters are going to show up. Many remember Bush/Gore 2000.

And I think this greatly benefits our side since we all know the more people vote, the more likely Democrats win.

I just heard that the race is tied, Rmoney has all the momentum, and is getting all the key newspaper endorsements.

The Republicans are going to show up no matter what. We have alot of folks on our side who tend to sit it out if they think their vote wont matter. These stories may get their attention.

I also use that argument with people who are strong supporters of President Obama and sometimes panic. I am helped by the fact I have a pretty good track record on predicting his wins. I supported him when he first announced his candidacy and some doubted he could win the primary and then become the first black president. I also knew he could knock Romney out during the next two debates. So they give me the benefit of the doubt and get more upbeats.

Actually the credit belongs to my father. Years ago before he died he predicted there would be a black president. Back when Jesse Jackson was running he predicted it would not be anyone from the Civil Rights movement. It would be someone new to the public who would be extremely intelligent and able to capture the vote of Americans with intelligence and common sense. I saw that immediately in President Obama.

If the headlines start to say Romney is leading, many on our side might give up because many are used to losing.

It's why I try being a cheerleader. History has shown us that more people voting just by a small percentage could have helped us win in the past. How people can decide that not voting and giving up helps is confusing.

it will be much easier to steal the election if the press say President Obama is losing.

I also wondered if this was the first part of the setup in case they see a chance to steal the election. Nothing about republicans would surprise me and Romney is a psychopath who would do anything to win.

I was thinking the same thing. If the MSM was pushing the fact that Romney just does not have the electoral votes to win, it would entice republicans to come out to vote and make some dems feel like they have some cover if they don't feel like making it out to the polls.

It's not a safe position to take in public. No conspiracy required, just the fact that the loser will get seriously pissed off about you "interfering with the election". (I know, that's so funny, the guys that are out there right now doing all they can to rig the result whining if you point out that they have already failed.)

The Phila Inquirer today has Casey (D) "clinging" to a seven point lead. Clinging to a seven point lead? They also have Obama "up by 10 in NJ," but the headline notes that this is less than his NJ margin in 2008. I started to think, Whoa, unbelieveable, but then I decided it was a good way to increase turnout. If they had Casey "slaughtering" Smith by 7, everybody might stay home. Damn librul media. Always have a trick up their sleeves.
