While I'm praying (and working) for an Obama victory in both the popular and electoral votes

there would be a certain irony if it turns out that the President wins the EV but gets fewer popular votes. Why the irony? Because the repubs platform contains a strongly worded, unequivocal statement defending the electoral college system and opposing any effort to change to a national popular vote method of electing the President.

Again, I'm hoping we win both the EV and popular vote, but obviously if we only win the former, I'm okay with it and it will be much fun throwing the repubs position back in their face when they complain about that outcome.

he had better have a plan to govern as if he had a mandate just as GWB did. After winning by a decree by the SCOTUS and the winning of the Florida Electoral College votes by the slimmest margin ever in the State of Florida, GWB took the stage, chest pushed forward and claimed that he had earned "political capital and he was going to spend it". President Obama had better be prepared with a way to get his agenda passed if necessary by executive orders, by hook or by crook, since he can't count on any cooperation from the right. But since he can't be running again he should go for it all. What the hell does he have to lose. Heck the GOP in the House has spent the last two years passing abortion bills and naming post offices. Go Big Obama.
