I'm so sick of this crap! Guess he means they have found a way for him to steal Ohio! Hope they lose Ohio and Virginia!
<snip>
Ohio's Republican governor said Sunday that private polls show Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney beating President Barack Obama in the all-important battleground state of Ohio just as auto industry politics assume a dominant role in the closing days of the campaign.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) predicted outright that Romney would win Ohio on "Meet the Press" and, with it, the presidential election a overall contest which Kasich said wouldn't be that close.
"Right now, I believe we're currently ahead. Internals show us currently ahead," he said, referring to the private polling candidates routinely conduct. "Honestly, I believe that Romney is going to carry Ohio."

(24,418 posts)President Obama has- and has always had- several more paths to 270 than Romney, who would need an almost total sweep of all of the battleground states to win.

(18 posts)Obama is ahead in almost all of the Ohio polling that I have seen. The best they have been able to do is get a few tie results, and one of those was a Rasmussen poll. You would have to believe that almost all of the public polling is wrong, and that they have some super secret polls that are showing something different. With that said, they really have to prop up hope that he can win there. If they concede that Romney probably isn't going to win Ohio, then they are pretty much saying that it is over. They know they are in trouble.

Early voting is giving President Barack Obama a lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in battleground states such as Iowa, Obama campaign senior political strategist David Axelrod said.
The main thing is not to look at the polling but to look at the voting, Axelrod said on CNNs State of the Union.
We believe that we are mounting up a very, very large lead in Iowa based on where those early votes are coming from, he said, while indications in Florida are very positive.
. . .
Early voting in Iowa, Ohio and Florida shows the campaigns strategy is starting to pay off, said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who was Obamas first White House chief of staff. In Ohio the president is up almost two to one in early voting, he said.

Seriously, that's all his assertions are about. It's about down ballot now. They cannot afford people thinking that there's no way they can win or they will lose the down ballots because their voters will stay home.

I am more convinced now than ever that we have a clear path to victory, said Jason Mauk, spokesman for Building a Better Ohio.
That path, said Mauk and several sources close to the campaign who asked not to be named, includes focusing on components of Senate Bill 5 that poll favorably with voters.
For example, the last two Quinnipiac polls show that voters favor provisions that require public employees to pay for at least 15 percent of their health care, contribute at least 10 percent toward their pensions, and get paid based on merit instead of tenure.
Mauk said internal polling and feedback from focus groups show similar results.

(23,156 posts)but on election night four years ago, there was an epic sequence on Fox news where Karl Rove was bloviating about how McCain was going to take one particular state -- I'm thinking it was Pennsylvania -- and the other on-air guy, Britt Hume maybe -- interrupted Rove to say that the network had just given the state under discussion to Obama.
I'm hoping it will be a lot like this all election night this time around.
I went looking for that the other day, too! Couldn't find it anywhere. I think Rove had just said McCain probably couldn 't win without Ohio and Hume gave him a, "Well, Karl? Guess what?" And announced Ohio for Obama. I loved that clip so much!
Drunken Irishman
(34,857 posts)I remember it vividly because I was flipping through the channels when I noticed Ohio was blue on the FOX News map. I stopped and realized Rove was playing around with their map to show how McCain HAD to win Ohio and was disappointed because I thought they had called it.
Then, a second later, Hume made the call and I yelled out, "HE WON OHIO!" and scared everyone at our election party because they weren't paying attention to the tv. Ah, what a night. Hope we're doing it again a week from Tuesday!

(1 post)Hey everyone..
I am actually an old poster from way back in the early years and decided to come back. My take on all of this is its all psychological and it could just as well be Karl Rove and his band of merry thieves working to try and steal the vote in Ohio. If they keep trying to put the message out there that they are going to win Ohio, maybe those who haven't voted will just stay home and not go vote. However, early voting has already begun. People need to keep voting and we need to make sure to keep with the GOTV message in Ohio and keep hammering. Keep putting out the message of the Romney family owning voting machines in that state. Keep attacking them on their message of what the polls show that NO you aren't winning in Ohio. Show that the Romney campaign has moved to Wisconsin because of the polls. Post it on twitter and facebook, and wherever you post it. I am sure the Obama campaign has the internal numbers and are well aware of what is going on.
Keep working to get the message out there..

(392 posts)I see that with all the millions being spent and the four years since the last election the process of electronically changing votes has been accomplished. It is true that many poles indicate a reelection but the poles also indicated a democratic win in 2004. This time enough votes will be changed to BUY an election which is what millions were supposed to accomplish. When millionaires buy something they know what they are BUYING.

(340 posts)Unless Kasich has some secret plans to throw the Ohio election we don't know about (which I doubt--not really a big tinfoil hat guy), then I seriously doubt he has any knowledge of anything showing Romney ahead.
Perhaps he's referring to polling showing Romney ahead among voters who will vote on election day (as opposed to early voters). That makes sense. But even in that case, based on what we've seen from early voting, Romney still loses easily. Dude needs to get out of government and back to Fox News.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN NOV 5, 2000 17:50:29 ET XXXXX
BUSH INTERNALS REVEALED: LEADING GORE BY 5% IN FLORIDA; CALIFORNIA BY 2%
**Exclusive**
The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained the Bush campaign's most recent internal polling data.
The confidential data commissioned by Bush shows the Texas Governor topping Vice President Gore by 5% in Florida, 9% in Michigan and by 2% in California, within the margin of error.
The fresh results have given senior Bush staffers a deepened sense of confidence going into Tuesday's election.
MORE
Bush's internal polling shows the governor up 4% in Washington state and up 10% in Missouri. One sour spot for Bush: Pennsylvania, where he finds himself down 2% into the homestretch.
A campaign spokesman refused comment on the polling leak.

(50,561 posts)If Kasich were to go on national television and announce that Romney was screwed in Ohio and even more screwed on the national level, the national Republican party has plenty of money and plenty of time to primary him into political oblivion. And I am almost certain our friend Mr. Priebus telephoned Mr. Kasich this morning to remind him of that.
He also needs to consider the downticket races. If Kasich were to go up there and announce Romney would definitely lose Ohio, a LOT of Republicans would stay home. Boehner is safe (he is running unopposed this year) but he's probably the only one.
