Related: About this forumFR elated over Hurricane Sandy, say it's "blessing" from God helping Romney
These people are despicable. But I can't help but imagine the excitement in the Romney camp when they heard of this storm. I can just see Romney high-fiving Ryan for working to cut emergency management funds. Here are what the people at FR had to say. They are absolutely electrified by the thought of all this carnage under Obama's watch:
"In an election cycle that many say is Historic in it's importance to the future of our Nation, the Economy, as well as it's Cultural, and Moral well-being.. NOW, we may be facing an additional new Epic crises blowing into the mix, enter.. "SANDY"
ELECTIONS, MIDEAST UPHEAVAL, EU UNCERTAINTY, WAR, SANDY!
Hollywood, could not have conjured up a more EPIC storyline to this PERFECT STORM!!
The conditions could not be more _______! Depending upon your political predilections, these dynamics are impacting the campaigns for the Presidency, and all of the down ticket elected offices..
Glaring headlines touting ominous phrases; "Wreaking Havoc", "Urgent Warnings", "THREATENING SURGE", are near indiscriminate in describing the pending hurricane, and the Obama reelection dilemma.. With the Romney campaign peaking at an unprecedented pace, the Obama campaign is searching for mere safe footing..
[...]
Typically, rising water, wind damage, electrical power, and bridge and road destruction, can, and will interrupt lives to what extent has yet to be determined.. But, if past history is any indicator, this calamity will undoubtedly reek havoc on the outcome of this election..
If the Ground Game, is the last resort for President Obama's reelection HOPE, this contest may be the CHANGE, that ends it prematurely.."
If G-d wants to change the outcome of the election, He will not change your mind. Everyone has free will. But he can change the weather...
****
Indeed, my dear FRiend.. Here is HOPING for Biblical performances..
***
A massive snow storm wont hurt either.. It appears G_d is on our side .. WOO HOO..

I cant help but wonder if God is again blessing America. I think He has heard us, but will we hear Him?'
Is it just me, or do they all sound like they're members of Westboro Baptist Church?

(340 posts)Advertising for them would be posting their polls. If you don't know how the other side thinks, you can't defend against them and you sure cant go on offense against them. Liberals NEED to know how the far right thinks and we NEED to know how crazy these people really are. They don't live in reality, but we should, and part of that reality involves acknowledging how extreme the other side really is. They are serious and they are vile. We should know that.
I didn't link to them exactly because I don't want to boost their traffic. But I do want my fellow Dems to be aware because too many of us bury our heads in the sand. We need more right wing watchdogs, not less.

(340 posts)How is posting their insane rambling a and giving my dem friends a head up that the right is indeed hoping to capitalize on this disaster before its even happened "carrying water" for them? What Im doing is telling my fellow Dems ahead of time to be prepared for this. They are excited about the hurricane. That means they will do anything they can to turn it into Obama's Katrina. Be ready to counter the stupid.

(340 posts)Check out my username. Go to deepsouthprogressive.com. That's me. Now go to YouTube and look for David Pakman's interview of Ashton Elijah where I discuss a homophobic, gay reparative preacher from my past. Look up my YouTube account channel, ashtonelijah, and watch my videos. Should prove I'm not a Repub. If you like, I can even make a special YouTube video on my channel for the paranoid Dems here who think anyone new is a troll.
But thanks for your concern.

(1,693 posts)But really, their stupidity knows no bounds. Anything that hurts turnout on election day hurts Romney more because of Obama's advantage in early voting. Plus, the states being most affected are strong blue, so it will hardly matter anyway. The only possible exception is northern VA.

(5,636 posts)I assume if the storm causes significant damage, it will be more difficult to get to the polling place in rural and suburban areas, where people will be dealing with bad roads and damaged homes. Although I certainly wish this storm would go away for the sake of those who might be harmed, if anything political comes of this storm, it's probably going to favor Obama. In addition, given the Superpacs flooding the tv with ads, the reality is that politics will be pushed off page one, and people won't be paying attention to Crossroads and the like.
The cities and urban/suburban areas will be the first back on. If they think this hurts Obama they are in for a real surprise. Rural Romneyland may have problems for weeks.

(24,411 posts)Romney does horribly in these situations. He is bungling and bizarre when he has to actually speak with non-multi millionaires.
Didn't Romney hastily head to a national disaster this past summer and tell a homeless, displaced woman to return home and call a hotline for help?
Romney is a fool when he's dealing with the common man, but he's completely outrageous when he's dealing with middle-class folks who are in real trouble. It's a tantamount effort, trying to hide disdain and feign compassion. What usually emerges is complete idiocy.
And you just know that Romney will be sprinting to the aftermath, for his political opportunity.

(24,411 posts)Obama is far ahead in all states in early voting.
I read lots of messageboards--including some Republican sites. FR is so off the charts. All extremists with very creepy responses. They are delusional when it comes to this election as well. They ignore and minimize polls that they don't like and cherry pick polls and build dalse narratives around them.
Most of the people on FR are very odd birds. I've asked Republucan friends if they're active on that site. Mist don't know about it but the few who do have said...Please don't align me with those extremists.
Sad thing is...those on FR are completely lacking in self awareness. They don't see themselves as others do.
The level of delusion over there about this election is stunning. They ignore the aggregate of the state polls in the swing states, and hang on to the national polls--which at this point, are close to being meaningless.

(19,458 posts)We've got votes banked right now. Do they think that GOP voters will magically be able to get to the polls? If a Blue State like NY has lower turnout, it will still be in the President's advantage. Do they not get that? It's not the popular vote? Doesn't matter how many people in the East Coast blue states vote, it matters that more of them vote for the President.

(3 posts)My mom is considering voting for Romney, no matter what issues I talk about she always says the most important issue is national defense, she keeps talking about Obama's "apology tour" but mostly she says he is engaging in a "coverup" regarding the Benghazi attacks and lying about them not being a planned terrorist attack, she always listen to right-wing radio stations and stuff, what do I tell her to convince her about this?

(18,219 posts)for people who saturate themselves in right-wing media. As to national defense, all that I can say is that we are still safe, Osama bin Laden is dead as are many of his cohorts, and the national defense situation is not as bad as it was prior to Obama becoming president. As to the "apology tour", ask her for the details of what happened during that visit to other countries. She probably has no real understanding of that it even means. Pictures of Obama showing respect for the countries where he visited was not an apology, it was...well....just respect.
She will probably not give any or these points credence, but that is all I have.

(73 posts)too many other voices are drowning you out. If it was my mom, my inclination would be to go passive-aggressive.
Does her cable company allow blocking of individual channels? Because you might "accidentally" block the worst cable stations and put at least a temporary stop to the continuous indoctrination by Faux talking points. It could make a world of difference if she's forced to look for news outside of that little circle-jerk while she's trying to figure out why she can't watch Hannity anymore.
You might "accidentally" do the same on her computer, if she has one; block all the nutjob websites she visits. Unsubscribe to all the newsletters and other crap those places send her. Block the addresses of anyone who forwards anti-Obama propaganda e-mails to her.
Dunno what you could do about the radio, other than "accidentally" shorting it out.

and i have no doubt that republicans all over the country go to bed each night praying that a catastrophe will strike, or a terrorist attack will occur and that hundreds or thousands of people will be killed in hopes that mitt romney can increase his poll numbers.
they are party over country and party first, over their own families.
and there is nothing christian about them.

(76 posts)Everyday of clear weather early voting probably helps BO.
If this storm cuts out a week of early voting that would be a bad thing. These would be days that, I think, BO would have been banking a larger advantage.
If, just in time for election day, the roads are cleared and the power is restored, election day could still be a day that Romney gains a significant number of votes.

(3,783 posts)"Obama's Katrina" - they wore that out in the first two years, along with "Obama's Watergate"". notice they feel the need to pin two major GOP failures onto Obama and neither fit. He's competent and he will help the states that I would be tempted not to help were I him (red states claiming independence and saying federal law doesn't apply to them, eg)
That's why he's the President

(25,415 posts)Assholes. Disgusting. Human lives are in the balance. Flooding and destroyed homes along the shoreline are expected from this Hurricane. My own family members are near the CT shore line and along Long Island in NY. And President Obama actually knows how to handle a crisis, unlike that last President the Repubs refuse to talk about. What was his name again...oh yeah. George W. Bush, Republican disaster.
