A Seattle man accused of threatening to cut out U.S. Rep. Jim McDermotts tongue now faces felony charges.
King County prosecutors claim Jasper K. Bell made the threat because he was upset that McDermott, D-Seattle, was supporting Hilary Clinton for president. Currently jailed, Bell, 27, has been charged with intimidating a public servant and telephone harassment.
Bell had been fixated on McDermott for some time before the April 22 incident that saw him charged, Senior Deputy Prosecutor Susan Storey said in court paper. Bell is alleged to have made threatening calls to McDermott before arriving at his Seattle office that day.
In one phone call he demanded the congressmans home address and threatened to cut his tongue out, Storey said in charging papers. In another call he stated that the congressman would not be safe, even after he retires.

(6,409 posts)And we know he's a Bernie supporter how, exactly? Well, he must be because he's crazy, and all the sane people are Hillary supporters. I support Bernie and I would love to cut out someone's tongue, preferably with a rusty razor blade. I think all of us would. We're all crazy and violent. All the millions and millions of us.

(10,530 posts)Please look at my history.
I've been a DU member since gawd knows when; at least 2004.
I've NEVER had a post hidden.
My chances of serving on a jury have never been less than 100%.
Until a month or so ago, I've never given a jury vote that wasn't confirmed by the majority. Since then, maybe twice?
I've always been a voice for the more progressive base of the party; but I've always striven toward what's real, what we should hope for but also what I thought could work.
If you think I'm the kind of person you should be tossing out of your wagon, all I can say is thank you and goodbye.
