If any candidate were to change their party affiliation at this point

how would that work?

I don't expect it to happen but I'm very curious what that process is.
For instance, they've all by now accumulated delegates with the
presumption on the part of voters that they are either a Rep. or Dem.
So if they switch parties what would happen to the votes/delegates
they've won up until that point? Do they keep them?

I would expect they'll divide them up between the others.

BUT, wondering what happens if we end up with two independent candidates, Bernie and Cruz. Why else would Cruz have already picked a running mate?

The thought plickens.
