2016 Postmortem

There are perhaps no three words more jarring to liberals than President Donald Trump. The GOP front-runner and presumptive nominee has undoubtedly made enemies with his nativist rhetoric and bellicose persona. That said, now that the race between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, with the former secretary of state essentially guaranteed the nomination, many liberals and progressives are preparing, once again, to vote for the lesser of two evils. The choice may not be as clear as some Democrats believe especially if Democrats can take back the Senate and assure themselves of a check on a GOP House.

I was in my mid twenties and had no idea what the political structure in DC was like, but had plenty of time and a broadband connection working nights doing monitor duty.
They've fallen damn far since. Damn far.

(1,151 posts)has been huge on Reddit (aka Bernie's base) for months. Fact is, a lot of white "progressives" don't give a shit about people who aren't white. The term "identity politics" is pretty huge there too.

(424 posts)get them to the left side of the aisle this entire election year.
My twin brother who voted for Obama twice and still supports Obama thinks trump is the change he wants.
I have yet to figure out what to do with that and that is my twin. And, he was never a Bernie supporter.
I expect about 15%-30% of Bernie supporters will stay home. I don't know if a whole lot more Republicans against Trump will. I do know that most Republicans can't stand Hillary so it will probably mobilize them to vote.
I will not take the blame if Hillary loses. That's the Hillary supporters to figure out why they carried though a candidate that didn't unite us. I won't be voting in the Iran war so don't expect me to be writing in anyone but Bernie.
