http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2016/04/29/sanders-campaign-withdraws-suit-in-intraparty-fight/Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has withdrawn his lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee, putting an end to an intraparty dispute over unauthorized access to proprietary data belonging to rival Hillary Clintons presidential campaign.
Attorneys representing Mr. Sanders filed paperwork in U.S. District Court to dismiss the case on Friday. In a statement, the Sanders campaign said it moved to dismiss the case after receiving the results of an independent investigation.
We are gratified by the results of this independent investigation, said Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver.
The dispute between the DNC and the Sanders campaign began in December, after it was revealed that four staffers working for the Sanders campaign had accessed some voter data that belonged to the Clinton campaign. The data was available to Mr. Sanders as the result of a glitch in the software platform both campaigns were using for voter targeting.

God, it's just unbelievable what they put people through here that are new. You'd think you'd want to engage people in the political process.

(1,729 posts)I've been here six weeks and have been accused of being a paid Brock troll probably no fewer than thirty times. It's so ridiculous. And you've got this broken jury system where Bernie supporters can outright call Hillary supporters "assholes" (just saw a hide fail on that very thing) and we Hillary fans get hides for practically nothing. It's so unbalanced.
Everything in my sig file is true. Had I not been hidden unfairly so much, it might have had a few more unicorns and rainbows in it.

(26,795 posts)If others have, that your issue with them. Newcomers with 20 posts a day draw attention. What can I say?
And you sig line betrays your claim.

(55,981 posts)in less than two minutes. Now that takes dedication. And start right off with an attack on Sanders supporters. I recommend everyone neutralize the low post Clinton fans but putting them on instant ignore.

(62,276 posts)By making a personality cult, by not reigning in abrasive supporters, indeed channeling them, he turned off the voters who would be best served by him. Weaver and Devine are only in it for the money.
BTW, whatever happened to suing the DNC and shedding light on its corrupt practices? Isn't settling the lawsuit the exact opposite of what you claim? Especially without the investigation details being released?

There will be books written about this campaign. And they will probably be called "How NOT to run for President."

NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)... taken it on the chin and moved on. It would have been forgotten and seldom mentioned (outside of place like this web site.) But, here it is again! Reminding everyone what a sleazy thing it was to do, and how the campaign (Bernie?) wouldn't accept the consequences and felt justified in retaliating to the mild restriction of privileges.

An independent fucking investigation RULED in favor of Sanders. The DNC was at fault and all of the smears y'all have thrown were baseless.
No god damned motherfucking data was stolen. PERIOD!

(54,770 posts)If Sanders' folks were innocent, why did they fire a staffer. The only reason he's dropping the suit is he can't win it, or the primary. He ought to be truthful rather than lying about some "Independent investigation."
TM99
(8,352 posts)Here is actual proof that no data was stolen, that Sanders acted appropriately in their handling of the situation, that the DNC acted inappropriately, and that the Clinton campaign used and continues to use it as a smear.

(62,276 posts)And the investigation does not cover the lawsuit which the campaign withdrew because it was garbage.
Number23
(24,544 posts)body else. The lawsuit says plain as day that four members of Sanders campaign improperly accessed Clinton information on 11 states for over an hour. But somehow, this EXONERATES Sanders.
GOD, I will be glad when all of this crap is over.
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)Some of the social media stuff I realize isn't able to be channeled, or it's damn hard. But the personality cult building, and fundraising, quite literally, off of their own staffers committing what amounts to criminal activity if they actually managed to do what they were trying to do, that's Weaver's doing. When Sanders apologized to Clinton you could tell in his own voice he wasn't buying his own campaign's rhetoric.
But he's doubled down, defended, and repeated Weaver's stupid ass campaign rhetoric ever since. It was a bad move, and I say this saying from the start that Sanders needed to go on the attack. But personality attacks are wholly different from policy attacks.
Don't get me started on Devine who is just this cycle's Mark Penn.
