Sheldon Silver, a well-connected and notoriously corrupt New York politician, was convicted by jurors last November of selling his office for financial kickbacks and sexual favors.
Interestingly, Hillary Clinton and Sheldon Silver have been close allies since before she entered politics.
Clinton has long credited Silver with persuading her to pursue a political career.
In 1999, Silver met privately with the then-first lady at the White House, where he encouraged [her] to seriously consider being a candidate for the Senate seat being vacated.

I suppose she will miss his support.

i think she'll be just fine.
Silver also resigned his superdelegate seat 3 months ago, but, it was worth a (pot)shot.

Sheldon Silvers corruption conviction cost him a ticket to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
The former Assembly Speaker resigned as a Democratic superdelegate in February, a state Democratic Party spokesman confirmed.

(10,476 posts)If Silver resigned 3 months ago, he is no longer a "Clinton Superdelegate".

And on that that minor quibble, the main defense rests.

Bill Shaheen is one of the six New Hampshire superdelegates to endorse Clinton. Shaheen is a prolific party fundraiser, and his law firm is registered to lobby local officials in the state. The most recently available lobbying records show that Shaheens firm is registered to lobby on behalf of the American Council of Life Insurers and PainCare Centers, among other clients. PainCare has faced increasing scrutiny as local officials have noted that eight of the 10 most prolific opioid prescribers in New Hampshires Medicaid program worked for PainCare. The flood of prescription painkillers has fueled the heroin epidemic in the region, as four out of five heroin addicts report beginning their drug habit with opioids. Bill is the husband of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H.

(3,473 posts)Actually, the moment he resigned his DNC position, he lost his Superdelegate status ... so he was no longer a "Clinton Superdelegate".

(1,901 posts)Right wing smear tactics kind of prove that the belief that Bernie is supported by progressives at this point is a complete myth. When one delights in RW tactics, and RW smears like this Mcarthyite silliness, one is outing one's true sympathies. This is not something that Dems and progressives do. But, carry on.

And don't you DARE call those who report truthfully on your candidate "rightwing." In the Democratic Party, her opposition is all from the liberal/progressive side.
