IMHO, the lasting legacy of the Sanders campaign will be the next generation of liberals

who have been inspired by his candidacy, and whose passions, hopes, dreams, and longings have been tapped into by his movement.

The Democratic bench is aging out, and there are precious few young politicians who are poised to take their place. Why shouldn't the next generation of Democrats - and Independents who are strongly sympathetic to Democratic principles - be a progressive, Left-wing generation? That is what this country desperately needs, in this era of economic and political malaise, the failure of Establishment politics, and the impending danger of the Vulgar Right to liberal principles.

Here's to the next generation - of which I am a card-carrying member - of progressives, and here's to the Sanders movement, which I really hope will continue beyond this one presidential race.

I am not all that confident. The 60s was a period of remarkable liberal, anti-establishment activism. Granted, it centered largely around Vietnam, but it was massive in its scale and scope. And it changed the world. Yet it was my generation, the 60s generation that created the economic environment that is now decimating tens of millions of Americans' hopes and dreams for their future.

It's sad and disappointing.

So I do genuinely hope you are right.

Don't give up and stay active, please!!! Start, if you haven't already, getting involved volunteering for your local congressman/senator - even if they are not your fav - and learn the ropes.
Or, get involved in a local issue that you are adamant about - help organize rallies, talk to everyone you can, figure out what people need and want - real people. Be kind and recognize most people all want the same things - the path on getting there is open for you!
Good luck!!!

To election and voting systems.

THAT, if successful, would be an amazing first step in the political revolution which would make progressive policy reforms much, much, much more likely to one day come to fruition.

It is difficult to sustain a movement when everyone in power wants you to fail. Best of luck.

I'm hoping Rep. Keith Ellison runs next time with Bernie's message and fundraising technique, and a better ground campaign apparatus.

And, I hope that young Dems run for local office all over the country with Bernie's message, to populate our bench for the next few decades.

Go Young Democrats!
