Bringing people (and beagles) "to heel" isn't easy.

It's a losing proposition which is why it's not going to happen. I have one beagle and one beagle/basset mix. I tried to teach them to walk at heel. They had other ideas. Instead, they taught me to follow them while I was holding their leashes.

My beagles win the small battles, but I still have the leash, and outweigh them. When it's necessary for them to stop, they stop. But they are not "at heel" when on walks with me. They follow their noses, as beagles naturally do.

Nobody's going to bring Sanders fans "to heel." Nobody's even going to try. Instead, we hope they'll vote in their own self-interest in November and elect Hillary. That's the hope. Maybe they won't stop and will vote against their own interest or not vote at all. We'll try to win anyhow. They'll still reap the benefits. The first Supreme Court Justice nomination and the first progressive legislation will come early in her first term. Maybe that will turn on the light bulb above their heads.

Believe me, we see very clearly, though the road is murky. We think that the benefits might not outweigh the drawbacks she will bring.

It's truly unfortunate that our choices are what they are, on the Democratic side. Needless to say, the Republicans are horrifying, and horrible.

The election season will be interesting.

Neither is Trump, for that matter.

BTW, since Obama has nominated a pro-corporate cop-lover for SCOTUS, that scare tactic is off the table. If that's the best the current Democratic Party can do, then there's no reason for Bernie supporters to care. Neither party will be nominating a liberal.
