'Terrifying' New National Poll Shows Trump and Clinton Statistically Tied
Last week, Reuters/Ipsos poll had Clinton ahead of Trump by around 13 points. Today, they're running neck-and-neck.

Hillary Clinton continues to lose ground to Donald Trump in national polling, as the latest survey from Reuters/Ipsos shows the two candidates running neck-and-neck.
The poll released Wednesday found 41 percent of likely voters supported Democratic frontrunner Clinton, and 40 percent backed Trump, with 19 percent not decided on either yet. Clinton led Trump by around 13 points in the same poll just one week ago, and thus the results represent a big jump for Trump since GOP hopefuls Ted Cruz and John Kasich withdrew from the race.
In an email to supporters on Wednesday, Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver called the recent poll numbers "terrifying."
It's a huge gamble, wrote University of New Hampshire professor Seth Abramson on Wednesdayand one with high stakes.
"The idea that Clinton is in a dead heat with Trump in the three most important battleground states at a time when Trump is the most unpopular major-party candidate in American history is horrifying to Democrats," Abramson argued at the Huffington Post.
He continued:
How horrifying it is cannot be overstated; along with recent polling showing Clinton tied nationally with Trump, and the fact that Hillary's unfavorables are already rising while Trumps are already falling, and the fact that the Republican Party is uniting dramatically behind Trump precisely because Clinton looks to be the likely Democratic nominee, the fact that Hillary is already struggling in Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania against an absolute buffoon of an opponent is causing Democrats to worry that she actually can't win.
"And," Abramson pointed out, "they may well be right."

Exclusive: Trump surges in support, almost even with Clinton in national U.S. poll
NEW YORK | By Chris Kahn
Donald Trump's support has surged and he is now running nearly even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party's presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.
The results could signal a close fight between the two likely White House rivals as Americans make up their minds ahead of the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama. As recently as last week, Clinton led Trump by around 13 points in the poll.
In the most recent survey, 41 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, and 40 percent backed Trump, with 19 percent not decided on either yet, according to the online poll of 1,289 people conducted from Friday to Tuesday. The poll had a credibility interval of about 3 percentage points.
The results reflect a big increase in support for Trump since he knocked out U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Ohio Governor John Kasich last week to become the last Republican in the White House race.

(1,438 posts)What will you do when Clinton is the nominee and Sanders endorses her?

(2,054 posts)Sanders can't stop that with an endorsement of Clinton.
Would that outcome make you giddy?
I think not.
Don't put personal loyalty to Hillary Clinton above defeating Trump.
You BSers are so silly.

(23,730 posts)her only constituency is the corrupt half of a shriveled Democratic party that barely represents a quarter of the registered electorate
and she'll never, EVER care about her votaries one-thousandth as much as the love they pour into her--heck, she cut out whole half-chapters on Honduras and Libya for the paperback version of Hard Choices--not because they were incriminating, but because what she did to those countries hardly even registered for her

(51,122 posts)Ignore hypothetical matchups in primary season they also measure nothing. General election polls before and during the primary season have a very wide margin of error. Thats especially the case for candidates who arent even in the race and therefore havent been treated to the onslaught of skeptical media coverage usually associated with being the candidate.

(1,446 posts)the right is starting to rally around him. Thanks to Sanders, our side is still bickering and many people who are polled would say they are for Trump, just to harm Hillary's numbers.

I'll be looking for the evidence if you don't decide to disappear after making that claim.

(1,446 posts)Think about it logically...as Sanders supporters always say, Hillary pretty much knew she would run for president again after losing in 2008. There is no way she would have taken any risks to her future candidacy. She is like any older person, who doesn't know technology well, and took some bad advice. There is no way they will be able to show that she knowingly set up anything to deceive or harm anyone, because she didn't.

(456 posts)I've already decided I'm voting for Hillary or Bernie. No need to even pay attention anymore to the day to day 24hr news channels because it will just make you miserable. They need this race to be negative and close to get the most eyeballs. So the polls are going to start reflecting what the media wants them to. I'm just one vote like everyone else. Made up my mind already so now I've decide to indulge myself in sports (nba, mlb, nfl) and any other entertainment thats going to make me laugh. Hell we're all going to die anyway what does it even matter.
