Related: About this forum"Morning Joe" Laughs At Clinton Camp's Claim FBI Investigation Is Actually A "Security Inquiry"
"FBI Director James Comey says he is "not familiar" with the term "security inquiry," which is how the Clinton campaign characterized the investigation into Hillary's homebrew email server. Mika read the director's statement: "We're conducting an investigation. That is the Bureau's business. That is what we do."
Needless to say, the idea that the Federal Bureau of Investigations had to reiterate to Clinton that they are conducting an investigation, brought Joe to laugh.
"That sort of undercuts the talking point from her supporters over the past nine months," Joe observed."

"Security review."
What part of Federal Bureau of INVESTIGATION do her supporters not get?

(11,366 posts)It boggles my mind why the Democratic establishment can't see how bad this looks. Seriously, they want to put up a candidate that is under a criminal investigation by the country's premier law enforcement unit?
Who DOES that?

(24,411 posts)All that was left to do was interview Clinton's aids and Clinton. Clinton's aids were interviewed in April. Unless Clinton drags her feet, the interviews with her should be completed in May.
I would think that we would know exactly where this investigation stands sometime in June or early July.
The FBI spent a year conducting this investigation. They have all of the evidence in the form of her emails (the ones she gave to the FBI and the 30,000 that she deleted that have been recovered).
That's unique about this case. These interviews aren't to glean facts about the emails/server. The FBI knows it all, based on the electronic record that her emails provided. Furthermore, they gave Pagliano immunity. They've got everything they need.
These interviews seem like more of a formality.
Let's hope this whole damn thing is put to rest sometime in June. Our party is practically paralyzed with this.
lagomorph777
(30,613 posts)That's not just a formality.

(24,411 posts)was finished or complete. But yes, you are correct, the entire investigation isn't complete or closed.
Those interviews are conducted to help them put the information they've gleaned--into context.
Maybe it's overstating it to say that the interviews are "formalities." However, this investigation is different from a Petreaus situation. They needed to interview the primary people involved--to try to get to the heart of what happened. That's not the case with the Clinton case. They've got all of her emails and that electronic paper trail that gives them the a pretty clear picture of what went down--without Clinton saying a word.

(24,411 posts)Part of me wants to reply that you should do your own damn homework. I did! No one did it for me.
But here you go. There are plenty of other articles that detail the "state" of this investigation and how the bulk of the investigative work is complete. Grrr.
The meetings also are an indication that much of the investigators' background work recovering deleted emails, understanding how the server operated and determining whether it was breached is nearing completion.
The interviews are critical to understand the volume of information they have accumulated," said James McJunkin, former head of the FBI's Washington field Office. "They are likely nearing the end of the investigation and the agents need to put this information into context. They will then spend time aligning these statements with other information, emails, classified documents, etc., to determine whether there is a prosecutable case."

And you're right NWCorona--You take the time to provide a link and you never hear anything. Not even a thank you.

Well, I do appreciate the link and your even-handed quote from it.
And for the record, when I make specific claims I do try to provide links; I don't expect "my" readers to do my homework.

(5,586 posts)Said for a newspaper article they were "nearing the end of the investigation."
That doesn't sound nearly as definitive as when you said the investigation was "finished."

Now, that was in January, but it seems looking into the Clinton Foundation would take longer than three months.

(443 posts)Odd that some on here claim MSNBC is liberal and yet they have a Republican former Representatives(Joe Scarborough) as the host who has one best time slots and they just expanded his show by 1 hr last year. And have in last year fired a bunch of liberal hosts. And now have former Ted Cruz Staffer who Cruz let go because he was too much of a liar for even Ted.

(1,065 posts)this is annoying why's it so hard to find the truth. I watched the FBI Director Comey LIVE, him saying it's not a security review. But guess what? I can't find the footage ANYWHERE now. I've been looking for it. This is stinking worse then it did.
Why doesn't anyone have the actual video of what I saw?

Why so weak minded? Your mind has to be able to distinguish news from garbage, or it isn't doing you much good.

(30,613 posts)I don't like the reporter, but I know the message is true. And I know it has a high probability of destroying Hillary - most likely the indictment comes down after it's too late to do anything about it.

Nicole Wallace is hurting too. Her guy from the start was Chris Christie.
First Scar was really singing the praises of Scotty Walker (major fail), then Christy, then Jeb!, then Kasich and now...who the hell knows?
He's squirming that's for sure! He might as well come in to the set with a paper bag over his head, as before!

It is not the FBI's fault, or Comey's fault, or the RW's fault or Bernie supporter's fault. It is HILLARY'S mess and her fault.
