Link to Bernie Sanders Is Already President: Of Liberals and Populists | Because of Sanders a great progressive movement is rising; excerpt:
Against this tide of progressive populism is the counter-revolution of the political establishment, the Wall Street and financial establishments, and the corporate-owned media establishment. ... The winner of the public battle of ideas in this historic battle that has only begun is the Democratic candidate for president who, according to the average of all polling on Real Clear Politics, would defeat Mr. Trump by an average of 13 percentand who runs significantly stronger than Hillary Clinton against all candidates in match-up polling. That candidate is Mr. Sanders... When the television cameras scan across the floor of the Democratic convention viewers will see a huge number of Sanders delegates who will be cheering wildly for their champion and for other progressive leaders who will be addressing the convention, and challenging the Democratic Party to enact a platform that stands for the things that Democrats are supposed to stand for.
...
In another sense Mr. Sanders has already become the president. He may not be inaugurated in January 2017 as president of the United States, but he has already been inaugurated by the people as the president of the progressives, the president of the populists, and the president of men and women who believe politics should be an honorable profession of ideas and ideals and not a get-rich-quick scheme for greedy and selfish insiders! ... When Mr. Sanders make his case against Mr. Trump at the convention and beyond he will have a moral and political credibility unmatched in American political life.
When Mr. Sanders takes his case to the people in November on behalf of the issues and ideas and values and candidates whose visions and dreams he shares he will be the single most powerful voice on the American political stage.
When Mr. Sanders continues his quest for the revolution he seeks in 2017, and 2018 and beyond, he will mobilize even more people to great causes worthy of the battle that will never end until our country becomes everything it can be.... Think about this: the more Mr. Sanders campaigns the more progressive Ms. Clinton becomes. And the stronger Ms. Clinton appears the more Mr. Trump will move left of where he was the day before, which is why he is already showing signs of backing off his plan to bar all Muslims from entering the United States.

(3,373 posts)you and Hillary assign to the voters in Washington, Maine, Alaska, Wyoming, etc., who overwhelmingly preferred Sanders over Hillary? {SPOILER ALERT - your vote "total" isn't much of a total}
A candidate who a majority of American voters have found to be dishonest ought to try to stay away from public-perception-reinforcing arguments like this which are so obviously misleading that anyone with a middle-school education can see that they are being misled.
Yet Hillary and you cannot stop yourselves from going there. Repeatedly.
Is there any wonder that as recently as May 10, 2016, more than three times as may people found Hillary dishonest and untruthful as found her to be honest?
Do you agree or disagree that Hillary Clinton is honest and truthful?
Disagree 62.1%
Agree 20.3%
WOW!

and competent leader. I watched Sanders from the beginning, hoping to be able to support him, but he is not the one. For a whole bunch of reasons, including that I don't think it it a good idea to invest authoritarian ideologues with power.
Btw, for this extremely arrogant and clueless lilfelong anti-Democrat, who has no idea what's good about us, to claim he's going to reform the soul of the Democratic Party is enormously offensive.

(458 posts)and loses among men, whites, independents, and the youth. Those are the groups Sanders does very well with. Hillary's appeal is very, very limited in a general election, unfortunately. That is why all those polls consistently show Sanders winning versus Trump, and Hillary doing worse, sometimes, much worse.
I would much rather see Sanders as the nominee, he also represents real change, unlike Hillary, who is the quintessential insider, establishment candidate.

(5,356 posts)Hillary's base of support represents the actual future of the party. White men don't represent "real change". They're the epitome of the establishment.

In part that's why I don't support Sanders. The same people who were wrong about Obama are telling me Sanders is the new liberal hope.

(11,945 posts)Some are more comfortable in cynicism and darkness. The light hurts their eyes, stings their souls.
Bernie has indeed changed the direction of the national conversation, and he did it in less than a year. That is an amazing feat. The other candidates try to copy him because they know he speaks to people where they actually live. So far they've gotten the words but not the tune. The tune comes from within.
Bernie Sanders will be lauded in the history books as a uniquely positive force at a time when this country truly needed it.
Thank you for posting many excellent OPs and contributing so much substance and meaning to this site, Attorney in Texas.

(1,198 posts)votes from multiple states Sanders won, which means the alleged "total" is not - in fact - anything like a total and (not coincidentally) the error Hillary repeatedly makes is in Hillary's favor.
That's what false means: a misrepresentation of fact (e.g., claiming you were under sniper fire in Bosnia when the video confirms the falsity of that factual representation).
This is an opinion that millions of Democrats agree with.

(8,756 posts)Bernie's running on pure full progressive populism. I don't understand why this is so hard for people in the media to understand.
Sure Republican's don't know the difference, but then they can't pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel. Nobody expects deep thinking from Republicans.
But everybody else? Sheesh! We are a nation of morons and ignorants.
