2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe chasm between Hillary and Bernie is not about policy nor about personality.
It's about integrity. Bernie has it in abundance. Hillary has none, zero.

(34,845 posts)The Sanders supporters are talking almost exclusively about Clinton and the Clinton supporters are catching up to them by almost exclusively talking about Sanders.
It's a mess and all of you are doing a disservice to this election.
Stop looking for heroes. BE one.
Both sides now seem content to have this be a full on flame war that's now spilled over into the real world, see Nevada.
None of it is productive. Fun, if one is a true believer of one camp or another, but not productive for anybody.
KPN
(15,662 posts)the issues is talking about integrity. In fact, the biggest issue of all in this primary is INTEGRITY in elections and governance. That's what the whole damned movement is about.
Have a problem with it all you want. It's not going to go away. And it's in the Party's court as far as the ultimate outcome goes. If the recent past is an indicator, I don't expect it to go well for the Party. They better change it up soon.

(34,845 posts)They're talking about the issues but their supporters are deaf to it, they'd rather talk about the 'enemy'. Fat lot of help that's going to do us.
On edit: okay, occasionally they DO talk about their opponent, but the references are few and far between. Their supporters -on both sides- are now obsessed with the 'other' candidate. It's become a childish mud-flinging contest on both sides.

(5,761 posts)I'd rather have a person as a messiah than the almighty buck.
Remind us again who's seen as a liar by the American public and who is seen as untrustworthy.
Because it isn't Bernie. Your candidate is flawed and has the lowest approval rating of any potential nominee in history.
Gee, I wonder why that is. Could it be.....

(5,761 posts)So choose the candidate who settles for mediocrity over greatness?
Tell us, where to people get in life without ambition, drive, passion? Hm? Obama said he would get health care passed, he did and that has been one of the greatest fights in political history of America. How much longer do people have to sit around and wait in America for things which are standard in the rest of the world? Only because politicians won't fight for what is right and become complacent due to the other side.
No, you know what dishonesty is? It's telling people you had no classified information on an email server when you in fact did. It's lying about taking sniper fire. It's saying you defended LGBT rights despite DOMA and DADT and your personal history with both.
It's also telling everybody you're going to get stuff done when the other side is already threatening to impeach you on day 1.
So who do you want to go with? The old bird who can't fly or the guy who is willing to fight for everybody in this country with this like maternal leave?
Ole. This. Who does Hillary stand for? Who does Bernie stand for? The answer is quite obvious especially when someone is taking more donations from big pharma than any other candidate on both sides.

(53,475 posts)... except that he'll fight for those issues you mentioned, among others.
Hillary appears to have promised lots of people that they will be further enriched. It's inconceivable that there's no quid pro quo for the money she and her foundation have raked in from people, corporations and countries.
And even if there were no quid pro quo, her allowing her planned Presidency to be totally undermined by her ignoring all these conflicts of interest shows horrible judgement. That's the best case for her.
When your best case is "bad judgement" you're not much of a candidate.

(15,662 posts)And it is possible even if it's not likely. It's also possible that Superdelegates may switch to supporting Bernie, but also a small possibility.
If we all just give up whenever the possibilities appear unlikely, then we never accomplish great things.
So what's your fuss? Seems either irrational or based in the realization that your candidate is a weak candidate.

Before this, from 1932-1976, the Democratic Party as a whole was far more progressive. The issues and approaches advocated today by Bernie Sanders were considered mainstream Democratic ideas by Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson, and even many moderate Republicans. It was common to support strict financial regulation, liberal immigration, social services for the poor, and progressive tax policies.

We know where her loyalties lie, with the extremely small tip at the top of the pyramid. Bernie is
with the 99%. She can't hold a candle to that even if she wanted to because she has accepted the
dirty money.
The Clintons had their turn and messed things up for us. Why would anybody want to give them
another crack at it. We're debt slaves as it is but it could get worse and will if they get in the WH
again.

He calls everyone in politics corrupt, when he has raised money from the same 'immoral' people.
He decries banksters who walked away from their fraud with lavish payouts, while his wife may have done the same thing to Burlington College.
He refuses to hold his supporters as accountable as he does Trumps.
He continues to feed his supporters the delusion they're going to win this primary.
There's no integrity in any of that.
