I wanted to clear something up about poll watchers

There has been a lot of talk about “poll watchers” and voter intimidation on Election Day and so on. The news has been hyping it up as well. I wanted to make something unambiguously clear: there are official, trained, Democratic Party, Voter Advocates that will be inside and outside the polls at as many precincts as can be manned on Election Day. Each state will also have an army of Democratic Party lawyers in “boiler rooms” all across the country watching the voting process as well and in constant communication with us Voter Advocates and reacting to situations as they come up. I say this because there has been so many stories on DU and the media in general that paints “poll watchers” and observers with a very broad and indiscriminate brush in a distinctly negative connotation.
To be clear, inside your voting precinct there will likely be a Democratic Party Voter Advocate (unmarked, at least here in VA, we are not allowed to wear any buttons or apparel that identifies our Party or a specific candidate) that will be watching the vote proceedings for the entire day and then the vote count at the end of the night for their precinct. I say this because I want to be sure people realize that there will be good guys and girls out there, all day no matter the weather, making sure the voting process is FAIR and HONEST FOR EVERYONE.
PLEASE VOTE!

I was trained on election law last week and will be responding to calls from and advocating for voters who need assistance on election day.

So many here are screeching,"stolen election" before the fact. There were DUers doing the same damned thing four years ago.

Your post helps by showing how much effort really goes into keeping our votes safe.

We all know there are examples of excesses. But the goal is that these be rare. That's why the parties expend so much effort on this.

Thanks again.
