2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs there anybody here who *really* think Hillary will not be the Nominee?
Truly. She is ahead by every measure and will win this handily.
But, by what avenue will you get there? Do you think you will *scream really loud*, and we will change our Hillary-loving minds? Do you think you'll play the "1968 Democratic Convention Card" (oh, *we* know what you're implying) and supers will just *flock* to the one with the least number of votes?
Oh, *I* know, you think that independents and unregistered or unaffiliated voters should be allowed to vote in the DEMOCRATIC Primary...and maybe if you pout and shout, the Democrats will just cave and say, "Ok, Republicans, err, unaffiliated voter, we will let you register same day and influence our primary".
It is just nonsensical, and what should be a coalition has turned bizarre. Because of proportionate delegation...the same thing that kept him in the race earlier is the same thing that will prevent him from even catching her. It's called *math*.
And the math isn't changing.
No matter how much stomping around happens.

(643 posts)And I'm sure that the DNC and HRC supporters would like the Bernie supporters to either get in line or quietly go away. Good luck with that. Cuz it ain't happening. You know why? Because this isn't about one guy. It's about changing the way politics works in this country. Because right now it doesn't work for the people.

(2,280 posts)Write a lot of angry twitter posts? Won't change anything either.
The votes are the thing. The country will change, but it will change in the ways Hillary has described, because that's who got more votes.

(643 posts)I'd like to see the Democratic party be saved. But you can't save a party that refuses to participate in its own rescue.

(1,209 posts)think Bernie Sanders versus how many think that other candidate into the nomination.
The necessity of constant propaganda so it depends on which side gains the consent, or our thoughts.

(50,130 posts)I'm counting on Obama to let justice roll down. He either has to cut her loose or be dragged down with her. And she will betray him again and again if she has the opportunity.

(17,600 posts)Of course you don't know and I don't know. But in your post #8 you sounded confident (the way I read it) that Obama would "do something" that would result in Hillary being moved out of the way so that Bernie could become the nominee.
I'm just trying to figure out by what mechanism that would work.
grasswire

(13,466 posts)I would not be counting on Obama, he let her run her little racket while SOS, either he's an enabler or in on it.

(231 posts)Of course I hope it will be Bernie. My gut says it could still be Biden after Clinton keeps proving to be such a weak, scandal ridden candidate.

(6,917 posts)she is 3 million votes and nearly 300 pledged delegates ahead of Sanders. She needs less than 100 delegates to win. The super delegates will not move to Sanders, they are Democrats, not revolutionaries.

(36,418 posts)Even if the FBI passes on any indictment recommendation, the findings that she committed numerous acts that violated her Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement will make it impossible for her to continue her run as President. That will be politically fatal to her possibility of being President. The events that have led up to this are compiled and sorted out here: http://www.thompsontimeline.com/The_Clinton_Email_Scandal_Timeline
I know it's a lot to absorb, but you have to be aware of the facts. Hillary has violated the law. The specifics of the law the FBI will apply have been posted here and are in the links: http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511898037
BTW: I think she will never spend a day in jail, she will be pardoned as an unindicted co-conspirator before Obama leaves office. But, she will never sleep in the White House again, either.

(14,755 posts)So, Hillary will probably be the nominee, but if the party was smart they will find a way to get her to drop out. She will be down by 15+ points nationally to Trump by the middle of summer if she doesn't.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)Your analysis is simplistic and moronic. She's winning the non-white vote 85-15.To be down by fifteen points she would need to be down 77-23 among whites.
If she's down by fifteen points in the real clear politics average I will leave DU forever. If she isn't you leave DU forever.
The only thing I am more confident of that I would win my wager is you don't have the courage of your convictions to take it in the first place.
And I think this guy will have something to say about it.

(1,258 posts)The FBI investigations haven't gotten far enough along. Any regular person would've had their ass in jail by now. But, idk, cuz Fitzmas (Fizzlemas). Iran Contra. Can't even get the 911 report out 15 years later... because we have to pretend we don't know the Saudi's colluded and poor Iraq was framed. Little things like that.
The weird thing is she might get properly prosecutedized cuz she's only a democrat, not a Bush.
Maybe she's been alerted to the Billionaire Donor class and they are taking a vote right now.
