I have openly said that I haven't forgotten about the racial overtones of Hillary's 2008 campaign, but this is 2016 and the subject you posted is about Bernie Sanders. Why does every critique have to basically be "but what about Hillary"? Its lame. Is Hillary in this thread or did you post about Sanders picking Cornel West?

Do I disagree with West's comments? Yes. That being said, I am calling you out on your hypocrisy how your candidate always gets a pass on everything despite her actions. West also isn't running for POTUS, is he? Hillary and Bernie are.

It was a smart move on Sanders part to pick one of the biggest POC activists around.

And here's a shock, DWS picked Barbara Lee of Oakland, she's excellent. Lots of dreck though in the Clinton and DWS picks.

edit to add: Bernie's fifth pick:

Sanders’s choices include James Zogby, a pro-Palestinian activist who is president of the Arab-American Institute in Washington and a frequent commentator on Arab-Israeli issues.

On Saturday Zogby noted recent government shifts under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that consolidated his right-wing power base.

“His behavior has been shameful, but so too is the extent to which Israelis, Americans and others continue to enable his malevolent rule,” Zogby wrote.

Am I really supposed to care much about a discussion board jury system? The day I start caring about that is the day it becomes clearly obvious I'm pathetic and have no life. But thanks for your interest into my jury service. Bye now.

It defuses a potentially strong third party challenge, while having no material effect. The platform doesn't really matter because it doesn't bind anybody, and anyway the Bernie crew is the minority on the committee.

The only significant effect of this is that it shows that a campaign like Bernie's is able to force the Democratic Party to make a concession. It shows that the establishment has a weak spot in the armor. A serious challenge can force them to react. But it's not at all clear that the concessions will ever be anything more than symbolic.

Despite what a bunch of grumpy neolibs, conservadems, third-way hirelings and other Hillary supporters are wringing their hands over, Cornel West is a most important and welcome voice on this committee.

Struggled so much with black voters. Having a delusional idiot like West who is so out of touch with black voters serving as an important ambassador is really a bad choice. It makes Sanders look completely out of touch.

Jesus Christ, do you really think the vast majority of voters -not to mention DUers- are against Sanders naming members to the committee?

Many have objections to toilet-mouthed Cornel West but we'll see how it goes. That's what you have failed to understand during this entire primary, and may simply be incapable of understanding -we're a team, whether you want to believe that or not.

advocating for justice, equality , fairness and the truth.

West addressed his frustration about some critics of the Occupy Wall Street, who remark about the movement's lack of a clear and unified message. West replied by saying:

It's impossible to translate the issue of the greed of Wall Street into one demand, or two demands. We're talking about a democratic awakening...you're talking about raising political consciousness so it spills over all parts of the country, so people can begin to see what's going on through a set of different lens, and then you begin to highlight what the more detailed demands would be.

Because in the end we're really talking about what Martin King would call a revolution: A transfer of power from oligarchs to everyday people of all colors. And that is a step by step process
