2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTHIS IS WHY YOU NEVER GET IN BED WITH CLINTON PEOPLE: Terry McAuliffe under investigation by the FBI
He carpet bagged his way into Virginia. Virginia has a long line of great Democratic governors. We also had the high road on corruption after the McDonald scandal. Now Terry throws is all away over Hillary and the Clinton foundation.
I'm fucking livid right now.

(496 posts)Since campaign donations are legal from a green card holder, they must be looking at something else.

(50,130 posts)I'm sorry. I love Virginia. What a beautiful state. Wish I was there right now, lounging on the beach at Chincoteague, or walking King Street in Alexandria, or sitting in the garden of the Chowning Tavern. Or driving through Cuckoo Virginia on the way to Monticello.

(14,915 posts)I worked for both of them. To see this happen now is fucking heart breaking. Fucking Terry.

(2,872 posts)Probably where I'll spend the Fourth of July, unless the fireworks are better here. Found a deserted, rarely used beach that had a BEAUTIFUL look at like half the fireworks displays in Hampton a couple years back, torn between that and Chincoteague. Virginia's a fuckin' beautiful state, I'd know from just how much time I spent living here-- but wow, can we stop getting terrible governors?
Blue_Tires
(55,445 posts)If you are, you'd know that the past 4-5 governors "carpetbagged" their way into the state...
Joe the Revelator
(14,915 posts)I worked for each of them. Mark Warner was from Northern Virginia and had private sector businesses there before running for Governor. Tim Kaine cut his teeth as mayor of Richmond.
What was Terry doing in VA before running for Governor?

(34,845 posts)It is truly pathetic to jump to these kind of conclusions for the sole purpose of making yourselves feel better about Sanders' loss.

randome
(34,845 posts)You backed the wrong candidate. Why does that mean you have to destroy Clinton? Aren't there more worthwhile 'missions' you can perform?
There is nothing -nothing- that indicates Clinton has anything to do with McAuliffe's problems. If such evidence turns up, I'm sure we can count on you to get on the Hate-Phone and let us know. Until then, no one is going to lose any sleep over this.
Stop looking for heroes. BE one.
Joe the Revelator
(14,915 posts)Again, this for me, has nothing to do with Sanders. It is the continuing corruption of people connected to Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation. The Clinton foundation is involved in this McAuliffe matter, let's not pretend that it isn't. Its right there in any news article you read.
randome
(34,845 posts)"The Clinton Foundation is involved". Well, neither you nor grasswire linked to an actual article in your OPs so to what article are you referring?
You both were so eager to get this out to show how wonderfully prescient you were. But it doesn't show that at all. After all, you weren't prescient enough to know that Sanders would lose. Your track record is not good on these matters and you are not at all objective.
I'll say it now as I've said it for every situation that arises for the Clinton campaign: if anything nefarious is proven, let the chips fall where they may. But I'm not taking your word for anything.

Heres your link: http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/23/politics/terry-mcauliffe-fbi-doj-federal-investigation-campaign-contributions/index.html
Probably super hard to find that yourself, as the news is breaking EVERYWHERE.
randome
(34,845 posts)But you clearly want otherwise. What reason would that be unless you hate Clinton so much you can no longer be objective?
Stop looking for heroes. BE one.
Joe the Revelator
(14,915 posts)Also are we going to act like Terry isn't one of Clinton's staunchest and unwavering supporters? This corruption bullshit follows the Clinton's wherever they go, and that is a huge problem. Now it's snuck into my state.

(34,845 posts)"There's no allegation that the foundation did anything improper; the probe has focused on McAuliffe and the electoral campaign donations, the officials said."
So if the focus is away from the CF, that means...
You'll believe what you fervently want and it's a shame you can't see things objectively. And it's a shame you'll be proven wrong again. You know why? Because you always want to win. Whereas I, if the CF -and Clinton herself- are found to have engaged in illegal activity, I say again: let the chips fall where they may. Because I don't care about 'winning', I will never 'lose'.

(14,915 posts)were the incorrupt party. Then we elected Terry.
We have been fighting to get democrats into this position in Virginia for a long long time. Before Mark Warner, being a democrat in VA was a dirty word.
We fought long and hard since Jim Gilmore to change that, and to change the way Virginia votes. Stuff like that KILLS all the good work we've done over the last 20 years.
