that his campaign has been able to scrutinize them all. This is sort of uncharted territory. There is as far as I know no evidence of wrong doing by the campaign and they are complying and rectifying any improper donations as they are being flagged.

Other campaigns do it. Most donations go through a website. If your IT infrastructure keeps track of each donor and make sure they do not go over the $2700.00 limit then you are covered. Most of the issues Bernie has are not because people who were not allowed to donate did (like foreigners) but instead instances where people kept donating to him and went over the limit. Campaigns are already required by law to keep track of individual donations. If they tie that up to a proper infrastructure, most of these issues do not occur.

a master at national politics. Of course he'll do what's right. He's kind of learning on the fly. But you may be certain he won't have to be referred to the FBI.

...getting longer and longer. The last one was about 650 pages of questionable/improper/illegal contributions and expenditures.

If I recall correctly, one questioned more than $10M in un-itemized small contributions. They responded, without details, "we know who they were".

He has to keep Berning cash for a couple more weeks. As far as the violations, while they show disregard for handling funds, it's really going to add up to a realatively small amount of money. That's relative to people like Clinton and Sanders, not us.

Starting after the last state votes he will get this in order and call on his supporters to retire his debt, which will include any of the money he has to return, if there is any debt.

He has to drag this out by necessity. Why not if they let you. He doesn't have much longer.

Obama campaign to pay $375,000 fine for omitting some donor’s names in 2008

President Obama’s campaign has agreed to pay a $375,000 fine to the Federal Election Commission, among the largest penalties in the agency’s history.

The fine was imposed after an audit of the campaign’s books showed that it failed to report the identities of donors who gave large checks in the weeks before the 2008 election, according to a copy of the agreement between the FEC and the president’s campaign.

The document shows that the Obama campaign failed to disclose the identities of donors responsible for $2 million in contributions in the weeks ahead of the election. The campaign also misreported the dates of $85 million in other contributions.

In addition, the Obama campaign also kept $1.3 million in contributions that were above the legal maximum allowed for a federal campaign, failing to return them within the 60 days required by law. The campaign kept almost $874,000 of those donations until the FEC discovered they were unlawful.
