No,Trump did not originally offer to debate Sanders.

The Sanders campaign planted the question using Jimmy Kimmel's show;

The Vermont senator, who is trying to make a last stand in the final throes of the Democratic primary, on Wednesday planted a question with Jimmy Kimmel, asking the presumptive Republican nominee to debate him before the June 7 California primary.

Speaking with reporters during a news conference in North Dakota on Thursday afternoon, Trump said the debate is on. Probably.
"He's a dream," Trump said about Sanders. Then he laid out what the arrangement might look like: "What we'll do is raise maybe for, maybe women's health issues or something, if we can raise $10 million or $15 million for charity, which would be a very appropriate amount. I understand the television business very well."

But he also sought to provide a reality check, even as Sanders attempts to create an alternate reality in which Trump is girding to battle Sanders in the general election, not Hillary Clinton.

I've noticed some are trying to pretend that Trump initiated this debate,he didn't,this is a desperate Bernie Sanders attempting to make himself relevant regardless of the fact that he's not going to be the democratic nominee. It's a childish way of saying "fuck you" to Hillary Clinton by a sore loser throwing a temper tantrum. I can't imagine any other losing candidate doing this,it's obnoxious.

I understand you to not like it. The question is about fairness. I think it is not fair that clinton keeps pushing him out before the end of the primaries. She keeps polishing herself as the fair one in 2008 when she did not leave the race until four days after the last primary and then with fairly huge promises for the future.

if we didn't have a DNC chairman that favored a candidate and gave that petulant candidate everything that she wanted. The people of CA would have the debate that they were promised. Bernie's trying to give them something because he truly cares about the voters of CA, not just giving them lip service.

that's not childish, pouting and shouting no is childish. What Sen. Sanders has done is responsible, and honorable....Presidential.

If it was anyone other than Hillary Clinton the media would be laughing at Sanders louder.

He knew Trump would weasel his way out - or, more embarrassingly, would be caught out, IMHO. More ammo for the dems! You should be happy!
