Did Sanders just concede the nomination?

Sanders warns Clinton to pick a true progressive running mate

Bernie Sanders cautioned Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in an interview aired Sunday that she will lose the backing of his many supporters unless she picks a hardline progressive as her running mate.

"That means having a candidate who can excite working families, excite young people, bring them into the political process, create a large voter turnout," the Vermont senator said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Clinton's lead in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination is nearly insurmountable, but Sanders has continued to win primaries and draws far larger and more raucous crowds to his rallies.

The 74-year-old senator has mobilized large numbers of young voters and self-identified independents -- areas where Clinton hopes to make inroads before the November election.

If she doesn't win she doesn't pick, sounds like he's conceding.

I suspect he can see the writing on the wall, though, just as we can.

He's just giving her a bit of good advice.

Will he feel compelled to pick a VP candidate that appeals to the Democratic establishment?

Or does he rely on the fact that the Democratic establishment, unlike the folks Sanders is referring to, place defeating Trump on a high enough level that they'll support the party's ticket regardless.

Fair enough. Final question, on Friday, you warned Secretary Clinton that if she ends up the nominee, that her running mate essentially better not be a conservative or moderate type of Democrat if she wants to win over your supporters and certainly have your enthusiastic support. Do you consider someone like Tim Kaine falling into that category, the Virginia senator, that he's too conservative or moderate to be on the Democratic ticket?

i don't know anything about Kaine.

I do hope we promote a new generation of leadership and a younger VP would be great for Bernie or Hillary whomever secures the nomination.

1) "... she will lose the backing of his many supporters unless she picks a hard line progressive as her running mate".

No, not many at all (maybe a few). The Bernie Supporters will for the most part will act like adults. To imply otherwise is simply an insult to the supporters. I do realize there are many of them that are obnoxious and loud-mouthed. These are the ones you are likely to wrongly generalize from.

2) "Clinton's lead in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination is nearly insurmountable".

Correct. It's a matter of practicality (although possible, just realistic).

3) "If she doesn't win she doesn't pick, sounds like he's conceding."

He is (mostly) assuming she will win. This shows that he now accepts the reality of the situation. But this is NOT equivalent to conceding.

I don't think Bernie was conceding anything here. It was just Todd asking, IF, HRC were the nominee.

So, to be polite, Bernie answered the question. But it was totally hypothetical and not a concession.

Bernie still stands a great chance of winning the nomination.

HRC is sinking by the minute. Her malfeasance is being exposed for all to see.

They routinely refuse to answer hypptheticals. Bernie could have done better here.

I think he will win California, there is no telling what might come out of the investigation seems premature to explore her winning picks.
